[Touch-packages] [Bug 1521987] Re: Sound is not automatically switched back from headphones to speakers

2015-12-07 Thread Björn Lindqvist
It doesn't change at all. The sound settings say that the output is
"Headphones" even when they are unplugged.

Yes you are right that my speakers are connected to the gray jack on the
backplane. They have always been connected that way and failover between
speakers and headphones has worked in previous versions of Ubuntu. Now I
changed so that the speakers are on the green jack instead and failover
now works correctly. So thanks for that tip. But since plugging them
into the gray jack has worked before I still think there is a bug here.

Bug description:
  When plugging in headphones, sound output is correctly switched from
  speakers (line out) to the headphones. When the headphones are
  unplugged, sound is NOT automatically switched back to the speakers.

  This bug started happening on my system after I upgraded from 14.04 to
  15.10 so it is a regression. Attached is pulseaudio log of what
  happens when I plug and unplug my headphones.

2015-12-07 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for your bug report. Do you have an usual configuration,
especially in regards to system users and how they are managed? Could
you try to obtain a valgrind log following the instructions at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Valgrind and attach the file to the bug report.
This will greatly help us in tracking down your problem.

Bug description:
  I have two layouts configured En and Ru with Ctrl-Shift as layout
  switch combo.

  When I start typing in wrong layout I notice it, hit Ctrl-Shift and type
again, but more often than not it is wrong layout again.
  I repeat the action, but there is no luck. On the third attemt it usually
either works OR the first letter is still in wrong layout, but the second is in
correct one - i.e. layout switches as I type.

  The explanation for this is that layout switch takes very unreasonable
  time - much longer than it is needed to move your fingers from one
  key to the other. Each time I encounter the error I retry slower so on
  the third attempt it is slow enough to actually recognize that layout
  switch is happening, but with a delay.

  This is extremely annoying and unacceptable. If someone knows how to
  work around it - please post your suggestions here. It would be nice
  to have a solution for 3+ layouts setup as well.

  Environment:

  ubuntu 15.04 with upstart and without apparmor

  I tried to upgrade my ubuntu image to 15.10 and upgrading breaks on
  rsyslog:

  start: Job failed to start

  i checked dmesg and found this:

  [  525.832963] init: rsyslog pre-start process (3078)
  [ 525.833007] init: rsyslog state changed from pre-starting to pre-start
  [  525.834464] init: rsyslog pre-start process (3078) terminated with status 1
  [ 525.834639] init: rsyslog goal changed from start to stop

  so i looked in pre-start:
  pre-start script
  /lib/init/apparmor-profile-load usr.sbin.rsyslogd
  end script

  and then in /lib/init/apparmor-profile-load:
  #!/bin/sh

  [ -x /lib/apparmor/profile-load ] && exec /lib/apparmor/profile-load
  "$@"

  in my case where is no "/lib/apparmor/profile-load" file, so this
  scripts return 1, which breaks pre-start and breaks rsyslog starting

  I guess that if /lib/init/apparmor-profile-load script checks if file
  exists, it should return 0 in case then file doesn't exist

  5) /etc/init.d/rc 2 executes "/etc/rc2.d/S20ntp start"
  6) /etc/init.d/ntp acquires the lock "/var/lock/ntpdate".
  7) /etc/init.d/ntp starts the ntp daemon.
  8) The ntp daemon logs an error, complaining that it cannot bind UDP *.ntp.
  9) if-up.d/ntpdate now starts the ntp service.

  The result is a weird churn, though ntpd does end up running at the
  end.

  Should these not be using the same lock file?

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1522150] Re: Cut off messages

2015-12-07 Thread Tiago Salem Herrmann
The two possibilities here are that ofono is truncating the message after it's
received, or the carrier is already sending it truncated to the phone.
The fact that characters like "ą ę" are being replaced by "a e" already
indicates that something in the middle (carrier) is trying to replace/remove
utf-8 characters from the message.
My opinion is that the carrier is editing the message and the swiftkey emoticon
is making their parser break.

If possible, insert the same sim card on another phone with another OS
and try sending the very same message. If it arrives truncated, than
it's a bug in the carrier side, otherwise if might be something in
ofono.

Thanks

disappeared in my phone.
  We test that without emoticon and - magic, I've received all text, but
without polish special signs (like ł ś ę, etc.). Inserted other emoticon -
received 'ie wychodzilismy'.
  I must also admin that I'm getting 's', 'e', etc. instead of 'ś', 'ę', etc.

  Also the xenial patch seems to be missing some things like

  I've just installed Ubuntu 16.04 alongside Windows 10 on a 64bit Acer
  Aspire VN7-792G and noticed, that the internal microphone doesn't
  work. The computer has been released a couple of months ago and it's
  Intel Skylake -based with a Sunrise Point -based motherboard.

  INFO: The problem exists in Ubuntu 15.10 too, only microphone jack
  detected. Currently using Ubuntu 16.04 for proper hardware support.

  Alsa reports the audio device to be:

  Card: HDA Intel PCH
  Chip: Intel Skylake HDMI

  The speakers are working fine, but both alsamixer and pavucontrol
  (Pulseaudio Volume Control) raport the unplugged external microphone
  connector as the only sound input.

  I have tried many of the alsa model configurations (options snd-hda-
  intel model=something) without success, alsa finds only the microphone
  jack, which works fine when I plug an external microphone in it.

  Here's some info:

  lspci | grep -I audio:

  00:1f.3 Multimedia audio controller: Intel Corporation Sunrise Point-H
  HD Audio (rev 31)

  cat /proc/asound/cards:

  0 [PCH]: HDA-Intel - HDA Intel PCH
  HDA Intel PCH at 0x8432 irq 128

  And a clip from dmesg | grep snd:

i915_audio_component_bind_ops [i915])

  [3.047514] snd_hda_codec_realtek hdaudioC0D0:  Mic=0x1a

  One problem is that I can't find any model options (options snd-hda-
  intel model=something) or other parameters for the card's model
  (ALC255), I suppose this issue is relatively new.

This is a *deal killer* for me. I have been trying to move back to

fixes it. Therefore, they are reversed! So, the microphone, in
speakerphone mode is operating the way that it should in regular mode
and vice versa. I confirmed by holding the phone far away from my face
in regular mode and everyone can hear me quite well. Then, when i put
it in speakerphone mode, no one can hear me. They all report that I'm
impossibly quiet. So, it seems that in the case of my phone all that
needs to happen to fix this is to put it the way it should. Swap the
modes for the mic.

In addition to the above deal killer (i can't walk around town with all
my calls on speakerphone mode!) the sound also isn't perfect as reported
above.

Title:
  Poor microphone quality (mako)

Status in pulseaudio package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  After months of complaints from people talking to me on the phone
  (mako ubuntu touch), I finally got around to use multiROM to dual boot
  Ubuntu Touch and Android. Several people can confirm that there is a
  noticable difference in terms of sound/microphone quality between
  Android and UT in phone calls. With UT, my voice gets distorted to an
  extent that person at the other end have real difficulties to hear
  what I am saying, while with Android call quality is much better with
  no distortion.

  I have had a suspicion for a long time that this might be a software
  and not a hardware issue. After trying Android and Ubuntu on the same
  hardware I believe this suspicion is proved correct. This issue has
  persisted in all the builds I have tried since at least the beginning
  of the year, but probably longer. I am now at r17 of Utopic.

Title:
  boot-time race between /etc/network/if-up.d/ntpdate and
  "/etc/init.d/ntp start"

Status in ntp package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
  We're seeing a race between if-up.d/ntpdate and the ntp startup
  script.

  1) if-up.d/ntpdate starts.
  2) if-up.d/ntpdate acquires the lock "/var/lock/ntpdate-ifup".
  3) if-up.d/ntpdate stops the ntp service [which isn't running anyway].
  4) if-up.d/ntpdate starts running ntpdate, which bids UDP *.ntp
  5) /etc/init.d/rc 2 executes "/etc/rc2.d/S20ntp start"
  6) /etc/init.d/ntp acquires the lock "/var/lock/ntpdate".
  7) /etc/init.d/ntp starts the ntp daemon.
  8) The ntp daemon logs an error, complaining that it cannot bind UDP *.ntp.
  9) if-up.d/ntpdate now starts the ntp service.

  The result is a weird churn, though ntpd does end up running at the
  end.

  Should these not be using the same lock file?

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1501588] Re: Wily's wpasupplicant frequently fails on WPA enterprise networks

2015-12-07 Thread Christian Rank
Setting the MTU for the WiFi connection in NetworkManager from "auto" to
"1500 bytes" solves my problem.

Title:
  Wily's wpasupplicant frequently fails on WPA enterprise networks

Status in hostap:
  Unknown
Status in wpa package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  Ever since I upgraded from vivid to wily on my laptop, I'm running
  into problems when connecting to my home WPA2 enterprise network.

  Typically the first connection immediately after the driver is loaded
  works as expected, however any further reconnection and the occasional
  roaming between APs cause wpasupplicant to freeze entirely requiring
  me to kill it and most often also reload my wireless driver to get
  things working again.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1516531] Re: Fullscreen Freeze.

2015-12-07 Thread Vindicator
Hey Christopher, I see you are still self-subscribed so I hope you see this
update.
I had a few more instances occur between Kodi and Chrome (viewing youtube)
while in full-screen.

First, I want to say that there are NO crash reports when the freeze
occurs. Crash reports do get created such as one relating to gnome when
I was transcoding rough videos (I think relating to thumbnail generation
with the output file).

I also am able to confirm what I thought was a possible cause in a particular
case.
Sometimes the freeze occurs while coming out of fullscreen (ESC for chrome or \
for kodi).
But what happened just now which made it very clear was a desktop notification
from skype caused the freeze to occur even though I wasn't trying to come out
of fullscreen.

I went to tty1 while still in the system, and like I just mentioned, there were
no crash logs.
I DID run apport-cli to save 2 files to my desktop. 1) for xorg by process name
and 2) for gnome-session by pid.

If you think either of these will be helpful or have something else you
want me to try/capture, let my know and I'll make the file submissions.

Title:
  Fullscreen Freeze.

Status in xorg package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
  Related?:

http://askubuntu.com/questions/692405/ubuntu-15-10-unity-freezes-after-escaping-full-screen-video
  https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1509622

  I've been having cases of unusual screen behavior, particularly when Kodi 16
is being used (maybe it's just a Kodi thing).
  There have been times before when coming out of fullscreen video using either
Chrome or Kodi would drop me to a console screen with no input.
  I think I would be able to kill the gnome session in tty1.

  Now, after a bios upgrade as well as the latest display manager and kernel
update, Kodi has frozen in fullscreen a couple of times and yet audio will
still play from Kodi.
  I created the bug report in tty1.

  I've also been noticing that if I pause a Kodi video, other non-Kodi
applications may not update their window content.
  For example, I may be in a webpage in Chrome and I try to mousewheel scroll,
yet not see the scrolling effect. Or I will click on a different tab and the
window doesn't show the switch. BUT, if I continue playing the Kodi video,
Chrome will update it's screen, and if I switch back to the tab I scrolled, the
scroll will have already occurred.

  I will say that I have at least not had a fullscreen GUI crash me out
  to console.

  Another peculiarity is when booting Ubuntu, I used to be able to press ESC to
view the kernel/system booting output, but now it just shows a black screen
with a cursor.
  The downside to that in 15.04 was I'd lose my mouse cursor when the GUI login
screen came up.

  Let me know what other output you'd like (or whatever test you'd like me to
try) "when" it happens again.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1522150] Re: Cut off messages

2015-12-07 Thread Krzysztof Tataradziński
Please look at attachments.
dia-session is related to missing polish diacritics.
There is "a e c s z z", instead of 'ą ę' etc

swiftkey-hangout-to-ubuntu-session is related to cut off message. I sent
message (04.12.2015) from LG F Fino with Android (by Hangouts SMS +
Swiftkey) with text: "To jest drobny test wiadomości , a więc jak widać nie wszystko działa", but received only "o
dziala".

If you look at both files, you can see that sometimes there are polish
diacritics, sometimes not.

Title:
  IBus input candidates not shown in GNOME Fallback session

Status in ibus package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
  I was able to add "Chinese (Pinyin)" as input method in Ubuntu 13.10's
  new "Text Entry Settings". Switching between "English (US)" and
  Chinese entry works for me, generally. When I'm using the "Ubuntu
  (Default)" (Unity) session, input candidates are also properly shown
  (a little floating window that shows candidate Chinese characters
  while typing).

  However, when I use the "GNOME Fallback" or "GNOME with Xmonad"
  session, as I normally do, the candidates do not show up at all. This
  makes Pinyin input useless.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1518352] Re: Input doesn't receive activeFocus when focusing a textfield after keyboard dismissed

Title:
  Input doesn't receive activeFocus when focusing a textfield after
  keyboard dismissed

Status in Canonical System Image:

Status in ubuntu-ui-toolkit package in Ubuntu RTM:
  In Progress

Bug description:
  When setting focus programmatically on a TextField the input area
  doesn't receive focus correctly if the keyboard has been previously
  dismissed by the user while in that field.

  Dismissing the keyboard removes activeFocus from the input component
  inside the TextField, and this is never restored when setting focus on
  the TextField as a whole (it does get restored if the TextField is
  clicked by the user).

  Steps to reproduce:

  1) Run the following QML:

  import QtQuick 2.4
  import Ubuntu.Components 1.3

  Column {
  width: 600
  height: 800
  TextField {
  id: field

  anchors {
  left: parent.left
  right: parent.right
  }
  }
  Button {
  text: "Set Focus"
  anchors {
  left: parent.left
  right: parent.right
  }
  onClicked: {
  field.forceActiveFocus()
  }
  }
  }

  2) Tap the input area

  3) Swipe down on the keyboard to dismiss it

  4) Press "Set Focus" button

  Expected result:

  TextField should receive focus, display the input caret and show the
  keyboard

  Actual result:

  The TextField receives focus, but the input component inside it
  doesn't receive activeFocus and the input caret and keyboard aren't
  displayed

  I've just installed Ubuntu 16.04 alongside Windows 10 on a 64bit Acer
  Aspire VN7-792G and noticed, that the internal microphone doesn't

  HD Audio (rev 31)

  cat /proc/asound/cards:

  0 [PCH]: HDA-Intel - HDA Intel PCH

  And a clip from dmesg | grep snd:

  [3.047514] snd_hda_codec_realtek hdaudioC0D0:  Mic=0x1a

  One problem is that I can't find any model options (options snd-hda-
  intel model=something) or other parameters for the card's model
  (ALC255), I suppose this issue is relatively new.

Being able to select a bunch of pictures on facebook seems something
users do quite often nowadays and we got some grumpy user comments,
could be worth trying to do for ota9 if it's easy enough? (Ken said that
the content-hub has a multiselection mode so it's not a framework
limitation)

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1523573] Re: Doesn't let you share several images

2015-12-07 Thread Sebastien Bacher
In fact that seems done on purpose, the code in PhotogridView has

"enabled: model.selectedFiles.length <= 1"

is the reason for that limitation still standing? (it's not stated with
a comment so unsure why it's there)

Note that if you come from e.g dekko you can select several images and
it works so it seems the feature is working

  (a little floating window that shows candidate Chinese characters
  while typing).

  However, when I use the "GNOME Fallback" or "GNOME with Xmonad"

2015-12-07 Thread Olivier Tilloy
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1503035 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1503035

Thanks Laryllan for providing a test account/server, I’ve managed to
reproduce the issue. When visiting the owncloud web interface, I am
getting the self-signed certificate warning page as expected, and if I
choose to proceed anyway, the page loads, but a lot of its subresources
are not loading correctly.

I’m seeing e.g.:

GET https://***.spdns.de/owncloud/core/css/mobile.css?v=xxx
net::ERR_INSECURE_RESPONSE
GET
https://***.spdns.de/owncloud/core/vendor/jquery-ui/themes/base/jquery-ui.css?v=xxx
 net::ERR_INSECURE_RESPONSE
GET https://***.spdns.de/owncloud/index.php/core/js/oc.js?v=xxx
net::ERR_INSECURE_RESPONSE

…among many other errors, which in turn trigger errors like:

  Uncaught ReferenceError: jQuery is not defined
  Uncaught ReferenceError: OC is not defined

It looks like accepting the self-signed certificate doesn’t make oxide
trust it for loading subresources. Need to investigate whether it’s a
bug in oxide, or in the way webbrowser-app uses it.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1523100] Re: Alsa not detecting internal microphone [ALC255]

2015-12-07 Thread Dennis Marttinen
I've now gone through all the nodes (even unconnected ones) where any
kind of input source was possible and set them to internal mic one after
another, put on a boot override and rebooted every time. Some pins have
white noise, others nothing at all.

If this helps, on the side of Windows, device manager reports there to
be an "Intel Smart Sound Technology" device on which the "Realtek High
Definition Audio" device and the "Microphone Array" are located.

I think this means, that the microphone isn't connected to the Realtek
codec at all, but directly to the mysterious "Intel Smart Sound
Technology" device. Even the Realtek HD Audio Manager sees only the
external microphone jack and doesn't know about the internal one.

grep: teamviewer/lightdm: No such file or directory

ls -al in /var/log shows the following link for teamviewer
lrwxrwxrwx  1 rootroot 24 Jan 15  2015 teamviewer ->
/opt/teamviewer/logfiles

Checking that link includes the following lightdm link:
dvs4@dvs4-E6540:/var/log$ ls -al /opt/teamviewer/logfiles/
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root  41 Dec 10  2014 dvs4 ->
/home/dvs4/.config/teamviewer10/logfiles/
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root  47 Feb  3  2015 lightdm ->
/var/lib/lightdm/.config/teamviewer10/logfiles/

Checking where that should point to shows it is not there:
dvs4@dvs4-E6540:/var/log$ sudo ls -al /var/lib/lightdm/*
ls: cannot access /var/lib/lightdm/*: No such file or directory

Because of the similarities and because I am the only user on this machine, I
changed the lightdm link to match the dvs4 user link:
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root  41 Dec  7 08:36 lightdm ->
/home/dvs4/.config/teamviewer10/logfiles/

I have never seen this particular error before, but I have had some
annoying glitches with the way Teamviewer starts, so I will try it this
way for a while and see if it seems to make any difference...

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1523574] [NEW] Support video export from content-hub

2015-12-07 Thread Bill Filler
Public bug reported:

the latest messaging-app will allow attaching videos to messages (use
silo 52 to test). The following needs to be done on camera-app for
Videos (it already does this correctly for Images)

1) expose exporting Videos via content-hub
2) when in picking mode for Videos, user should be able to take a new video
from the camera or pick one from Photo Roll (same as we do for Images - just
need the equivalent for videos)
3) main picking UI from viewfinder should be similar to for Images, but only
allow taking videos

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1523100] Re: Alsa not detecting internal microphone [ALC255]

2015-12-07 Thread Dennis Marttinen
Hi Raymond,

switching to internal mic on node 0x12 doesn't work, the channel only
has white noise (the sound you hear from an untuned radio). I'm now
going to go through all the unconnected pins in hdajackretask to see if
one of them works.

  Alsa not detecting internal microphone [ALC255]

Status in alsa-driver package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1518317] Re: Client display configuration is not unapplied when the client doesn't explicitly release its surfaces before disconnecting

Title:
  Client display configuration is not unapplied when the client doesn't
  explicitly release its surfaces before disconnecting

Status in Mir:
  Fix Committed
Status in mir package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  Steps to reproduce (with latest lp:mir r3112):

  With multiple screens connected do:

  1. bin/mir_demo_server --arw-file // Screens should be in clone mode by
default
  2. bin/mir_demo_client_display_config -m /tmp/mir_socket
  3. Press the 'h' key // Screen should be arranged side-by-side
  4. killall -9 mir_demo_client_display_config.bin

  Expected: After client is killed the screen should go back to clone mode
  Actual: Screens stay in side-by-side mode

  Note that if the client terminates normally (e.g. killall
  mir_demo_client_display_config.bin) the display configuration is
  changed as expected.

  Investigation indicates that the problem does not occur only when the
  connection is closed abruptly, but in all case where the client
  doesn't explicitly release its surface before disconnecting (either
  abruptly or normally). To replicate this with a normal disconnection
  scenario temporarily remove the mir_surface_release_sync() from
  eglapp.cpp, recompile, follow steps 1-3 from above and terminate the
  client normally.

Bug description:
  Running unity8 as a session on the desktop.

  The mouse is so "slow" (i.e a movement in reality moves it very few

  and restart the movement a few times if i want to go to the other side
  of the screen.
