[Touch-packages] [Bug 1573524] Re: side stage first-use hint about 3-finger swipe does not stop (Frieza)

2016-10-06 Thread Mathijs Veen
The screenshot i posted above doesn't really explain a lot. I expired
that and did a small vid in which both scenario's are shown.

1. switch an app from sidestage to mainstage -> empty sidestage remains.
It should imo dissapear.

2. kill a sidestaged app --> empty sidestage reappears after returning
from app carrousel. It should imo dissapear.

As the bug title says: The 3-finger swipe hint to move apps between

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1598584] Re: wifi slows to a crawl when bluetooth is enabled

2016-10-06 Thread Mathijs Veen
I have also heard other experts say this. And that the problem might be more
pronounced in mediatek devices. That would suggest that solving this might not
be possible from within UT.
But in that case we would need some one to confirm that using BT and wifi
together on -for example- the M10 running android has the same issue.

If not, this should be fixable.

And at the risk of stating the obvious, I would add that in the context
of convergence, having this working properly is pretty essential because
users connecting mice/keyboards is almost a given.

I am having serious wifi performance issues on my Aquaris M10 (running
rc-proposed r133). When measuring the wifi speed, I get download
speeds of less than 1/20 compared to my Pro 5 at the same distance
from the wifi router. This seems to be consistent through reboots. I
had similar wifi performance also before recently upgrading to rc-
proposed, which I thought would have fixed the issue.

I am in the same place testing 3 different ubuntu devices and these are the
readings of the wifi download speed:
  Laptop: 4 MB/s
  Pro 5: 3.5 MB/s
  Aquaris M10: 0.16 MB/s

However, upload speed is about the same on all three devices.

Turning bluetooth off gets Aquaris M10 wifi speed back to sort of
normal, 2.5-3.4 MB/s. Bluetooth on, again 0.1-0.2 MB/s. Seems the two
wireless technologies interfere with each other on the M10, while the
Pro 5 doesn't have that problem.

I have just done some more test together with Alan Pope. Although I
first saw this happening on my M10FHD, Other devices also are affected:
popeys bq e4.5 and my N4 have similar drops in wifi download speeds when
paired with a bt device.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1624944] [NEW] ui not responding correctly to stail/outdated creds for wpa/wpa2 enterprise connections

2016-09-18 Thread Mathijs Veen
Public bug reported:

os: Ubuntu-touch rc-proposed (r530)
device: Nexus4-Mako (but can be reproduces on Bq Aquaris M10)

When one is in range of a previously stored enterprise wifi connection, but the
credentials are known to be stail/outdated, upon connecting to that network,
the list-item of the selected connection will show as 'connected'. This is
ofcourse not actually true.
This can be done both in system-settings --> Wifi and in the dropdownlist of
available connections.

What should happen is that upon failing to authenticate to the network,
a popup should appear prompting the user to update the password.

Currently, the only way for the user to reconnect is to go into
'Previous networks', delete the connection there, and then register the
connection again.

This bug can be steadily reproduced on the Eduroam network in the school
where I work. The assumption is however that all Enterprise wifi
networks are effected.

Below is my .cache/upstart/indicator-network.log
That doesn't show much afaict but it was requested:

I should add that it also appears when a side-staged app is killed (by swiping
up or down in the app carousel).
That seems to me just as odd.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1573524] Re: side stage first-use hint about 3-finger swipe does not stop (Frieza)

2016-04-22 Thread Mathijs Veen
Hi Michael, yes I do. Here is a screenshot just after bringing the
systemsettings app from sidestage to mainstage:

http://77.174.228.163/owncloud/public.php?service=files=6a9fcf60922a90dd6c0db6c6734f857d

happens every time.

I could see that some might not consider this a bug, but in my mind, the
empty side-stage should be killed, instead of keep displaying the hint.

I think ogra_ at least agrees :)

cheers

Mathijs

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1539651] [NEW] screen always blacks out on initiating an outgoing call on Mako

2016-01-29 Thread Mathijs Veen
Public bug reported:

OS: Ubuntu 15.04 (OTA9)
Device: Nexus4 (Mako)

Since OTA9, the screen goes black immediately after initiating an
outgoing call.

This should only happen when phone is held up to the ear. (Which is
triggered by the sensor). But it happens also when I hold it in my hand.
I take care not to cover the sensor.

This is annoying because when a user wants to use the UI of the app (i.e
speaker-on/off), he has to hit the powerbutton first to activate the
screen.

FWIW: On IRC people have reported that this does not happen on the BQ
e4.5

bug: starting this morning, I found that my browser (the default ubuntu-touch
one) crashes on startup. All i see is the spinning startup wheel. Then nothing.
I am again on the apps scope. Then i found that this is also the case for the
Liri browser and Dekko (The difference for Dekko being that it doenst crash.
But it neither starts. It just keeps spinning the app startup wheel).
All other webapps and apps that i have tested continue to work fine.

First i tried a reboot but the same behaviour remains.
Then I noticed that i was low on diskspace(system-settings said I had about
250 MB left) so cleared out some stuff giving me a gig of free space. Reboot
again but still the same apps continue to crash when started.

on irc I consulted jgdx. He had me verify that I had indeed enough space with
df -h
The output for that is here: http://pastebin.com/NbvSKvit

Then we looked logfiles for the browser app and unity8. They are here:
  http://pastebin.com/Bia7qrkm (webbrowser)
  http://pastebin.com/2UuRuDk6 (unity8)

Attached is also the .crash file for the webbrowser from /var/crash

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1478291] [NEW] clickstore search for 'video' keyword returns neither the Video scope nor My Video's scope

OS Ubuntu touch 15.04 r24 channel: stable

A search in the store for the searchword 'Video' does not return the Video
Scope or My Video Scope. It does return 89 other scopes and clicks.

As using a scope is atm moment the default way of playing a video stored

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1460301] Re: [Dialer] Incoming call - no info which SIM card was called (dual SIM)

2015-06-30 Thread Mathijs Veen
I filed a similar bug against dialer-app the other day before I saw this one:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/dialer-app/+bug/1469467 (now marked
as duplicate)

In that bug I added two more fr's that I believe also to be useful in this
context. those additions are:
:
1) in the recent calls panel of the dialer-app, each missed/incoming call
should show to which of the two sims a call was made. When this is realised, it
should then by default select that same sim to call back in the dialer panel
when that phone number is selected from missed calls.

2) Also useful would be to have a UI where a user could add an alias to
each sim, which would then be used in the dialer-app (or even system-
wide) to replace sim 1 and sim 2.

I have two SIM cards inserted into BQ Aquaris 4.5

On incoming call I expect to see information if SIM1 or SIM2 was dialled by
caller alongside caller ID.
  I see only caller ID.

It may be useful if one of the SIM cards is in roaming, or when one of
the SIMs is a company number while other is a private number.

  OS: Ubuntu 15.04 r23
  Device: Krillin

  This is a feature request:
I want to know if an incoming call is/was made to sim1 or sim2. The
incoming-call notification (aka snap decision) should display that.

Use-case: Like many people, I use a dual-sim phone (as both currently
available BQ phones are), where I have one sim for my work phone,
and the other for private. I want to see on which sim I am being
  called before answering.

Also, in the recent calls panel, each missed call should show to
which of the two sims a call was made. When this is realised, it
should then be able to select that same sim to call back in the dialer
panel when that phone number is selected from missed calls.

Also useful would be to have a UI where a user could add an alias to
each sim, which would then be used in the dialer-app (or even system-
wide) to replace sim 1 and sim 2.

  thnks!

  Mathijs

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1466228] Re: search suggestion in scopes is shown outside visible shell on Krillin

2015-06-18 Thread Mathijs Veen
Judging by above screenshots, the positioning on Krillin is different from
Mako. But its wrong in both cases. As I said, on Krillin it is positioned above
the searchbox (at least when one or two previous searches were made), in which
case its placed outside the visible shell.
See attached screenshot on Krillin. The bottom edge of the hint-box is just
about visible. In this case the soundcloud app but it's the same in any scope.

http://uppix.com/f-screenshot2015065582d2f70019332d.png

when list of previous searches is longer (3 or more), the positioning is
correct initially but I have found that you can move it around by
dragging. I am not quite sure that this is by design..

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1241986] Re: Cannot connect to WPA/WPA2, EAP-PEAP, MSCHAPV2 network

2015-04-24 Thread Mathijs Veen
the work-around mentioned above still works for me. I just verified.
I suspect that for those that find it not to work, this will be related to how
certificates are handled. Specifically if the network demands they be present
on the device. That should also be taken into account.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1389028] Re: u1 account crashes and gets removed when installing app

2015-01-06 Thread Mathijs Veen
Sorry but I can not agree with the analyses. As I said (#16), the issue remains
after the duplicate token was resolved. Also Alberto's take just does not fly
(the assumption that the U1 account never was properly created), because how
else could I install every other app from the store?
I do not like to waste anyone’s time and I can see that when no one else is
reporting this, It seems kind of flaky. Yet I can still reproduce this issue
consistently to this day: My U1 account works fine and I can do anything one
should expect it to do. Except that installing a couple of very specific apps
cause U1 to crash(or at least for all intents and purposes, be deleted from the
phone). The consistency just does not add up to some fluke occurrence.
I am replying especially again because -if this is indeed an issue with merrit-
the implications may just be big. (U1 accounts in relation to the clickstore in
certain cases can not guarantee cardinality)
I will continue to provide whatever is needed if some one asks, but will not
pursue it any more myself.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1389028] Re: u1 account crashes and gets removed when installing app

2014-12-03 Thread Mathijs Veen
Spoken too soon. I am again hit by this bug. This time it is triggered
by the 'Marktplaats WebApp' clickstore app. Again consistently so. But
the first app that triggered it is also doing it (again). So now I have
2 html5 apps that are doing this.

Of course I checked for duplicate registration of my U1 account for
ubuntu one @ ubuntu phablet. But that is not the case this time. I also
deleted the one registration that was there, logged off from ubuntu one
web-login, registered my U1 account on the device, but the same thing
keeps happening.

We previously assumed that the corrupt U1 account caused this, but now i
am thinking the reverse: for some reason, getting these apps from the
clickstore causes U1 to get corrupted.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1389028] Re: u1 account crashes and gets removed when installing app

2014-11-21 Thread Mathijs Veen
@dobey correct. Again: I haven't tried every app in the store. not by a
stretch but I try and install what looks decent on and off. I
accidentally hit this bug.

@mardy: it stays on the providers list. I then go manually back to the
installed accounts list. And the U1 account is there.

I videod the whole thing so you have a better understanding of what happens and
maybe spot something odd. However be aware that the quality is somewhat less
then stellar :)
It starts with me adding the U1 account, then go to grooveshark to install. you
will see that the U1 account gets bumped instantly.

the vid is here:

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1389028] Re: u1 account crashes and gets removed when installing app

2014-11-21 Thread Mathijs Veen
Resolved

This was indeed caused by a corrupt U1 account. The device account was
registered twice where this ought to be unique per device/server-side token.

http://37.251.54.131/owncloud/public.php?service=filest=e8f7ba13530bbbc20be0b322270aefff

After deleting both instances on the server as well as the one on my
phone (and re-register) the bug was gone.

( a relative loose end of this issue seems to me how only that one specific app
could trigger this behaviour )

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1389028] Re: u1 account crashes and gets removed when installing app

2014-11-20 Thread Mathijs Veen
haha I thought I was going mad! No worries though.

So here is what was logged when my U1 account gets added to online
accounts:

http://pastebin.ubuntu.com/9134361/

So I can't tell if there is anything worrysome in there. from the outside it
always looks like my account gets created ok.
But when after that, I go and install Grooveshark, My U1 account gets removed
from online accounts like I described in the original report.

Actually, I don't even care about the grooveshark app. But when -at
least in some cases- an app is able to take down online accounts, that
would seem less then desirable.

Hopefully the log tells you something. When you need more from me, let
me know.

cheers

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1389028] Re: u1 account crashes and gets removed when installing app

2014-11-19 Thread Mathijs Veen
I am completely stumped by this. for sure I am missing something
absolutely obvious, I just cant think what.

pkilling the process and then starting it again does not help.

online-accounts-service

still seems to timeout(or crash) after a couple of seconds. It will simply not
output to screen nor log to file.
here are my futile attemps to get some clearity:
So I suddenly noticed that the underscores were missing in the export commands
in the terminal app, even though I was typing them. Discussed that bug with
swordfish90 and he assumed that that was caused by a font problem. Shouldnt
impact on the actual commands pushed. So i did file a bug for that.
Getting back to this problem, I wanted to be sure that the terminal bug wasnt
causing the log commands to fail. So I adb shelled into my device and even
ssh-ed into it to run the commands but always with the same result.
I considered that maybe this was a authorization problem. Although I was always
in developer mode.

So I also remembered your initial thought that maybe some files or the
filesystem got corrupted. In light of a couple of bugs of that nature
recently, I needed to rule that out. So i reflashed my device using the
--wipe options. But still I could trigger the bug and consistenly so. In
the meantime rtm had got some new images promoted but on all those still
the bug remains. I finally did another --wipe install but changed to
rtm-proposed channel. Still the bug is there.

The weirdest thing is that I am apparently the only one that is hit by this
bug. If that is so, then it almost seems to me that my U1 account is
corrupted(is that even possible?).
I dont'really know what I can do now as I can't seem to generate logfiles for
this one.
Any ideas :) ?

nothing gets logged. running

online-accounts-service

itself seems to crash because after 2 seconds i get handed back to the shell
prompt (don't think thats supposed to happen).
it makes no difference if i direct output to screen or to file. if i do direct
output to file, the file gets created but stays empty.

fwiw I am running the commands on the phisical device. not over adb
shell

what am i missing?

Hi Alberto, Very sorry for my delayed response after this morning on
irc. I was at work. Usually I can do this stuff on the side but I got
totally swamped today :O

So I think you wanted me to tap into UOA service logging, right? Can you
give me once more the commands to generate the output that you need?

Thanks for the help,

2014-09-12 Thread Mathijs Veen
I got this working with Cyphermox 's help: Here is whats needed in terms
of configs:

manually edit /etc/NetworkManager/system-connections/my-peap-network-filename
Here is how it should look:

///

[connection]
id=my-peap-network-filename
uuid=43751181-27bc-4184-a9b9-3adaf9e914eb
type=802-11-wireless

[802-11-wireless-security]
key-mgmt=wpa-eap

ssid=my-peap-network-filename
mode=infrastructure
mac-address=E8:92:A4:9B:69:42
security=802-11-wireless-security

[802-1x]
eap=peap;
identity=myusername
phase2-auth=mschapv2
password=mypassword

[ipv4]
method=auto

[ipv6]
method=auto

///

set permission of /etc/NetworkManager/system-connections/my-peap-
network-filename to 600, and do a touch

thats all. Appearantly there is (at least in my network) no need to
actively ignore the cert acceptance.

So i suppose this part is solved. I will do another bugreport as a
feature request for a UI for all this. When i do, I will post the
buglink here
