I got No such schema 'org.gnome.settings-daemon.peripherals.keyboard'

Canonical's requirement that users recompile Ubuntu packages from source
code
This sounds like a big issue for Trisquel. AFAIK Trisquel does not compile
from source except for the modified packages.
Using any GNU/Linux with the free nouveau drivers will cause a performance
drop of 50% or more.
40% of performance drop with my GTX 650, thanks. But you can get only 20% of
performance drop with some older tesla GPUs. As you can also get 90% of
performance drop with some newer GPUs like
Hi alimiracle,
I note you've reported the same problem on behalf of one of your friends
before[1]. Can you explain a bit more about the use case(s) please. For
example,
is your friend also blind and you are both having secondary accessibility
issues with the icon method a_slacker_here
Give it a try, who knows? :)
It doesn't block its list (http://gnuzilla.gnu.org/filters/blacklist.txt) and
no other of course before the actualization it worked well.
Thanks for the contiuous updates ! I tried the latest version of your mod on
my gaming rig.
Unfortunately at least on my system the mod still suffers the same issues
that it 1 or 2 years ago:
Certain effects like blood splatters or explosions bog down my system a lot.
This seems to be
Sorry for using the term 'a matter of principle'. I was trying to differentiate
between the ethical basis for rejecting proprietary software, and the
possibilities for active abuse due to the user being denied control.
I accept that all proprietary software denies the four freedoms to the user,
I don't think I do (and basically I cpuldn't set anything with xset).
Any joint activity depends on software on someone else's machine. Here, I was
only talking about the difference between centralized communication vs.
distributed communication. Distributed communication would be things like
P2P. The entire WWW works in a centralized manner: a server has all
RMS would agree with the last paragraph. Even he uses proprietary software on
occasion, for things like browsing, when he is without his own computer.
FSF
have published a statement on Canonical's updated licensing terms for
Ubuntu GNU/Linux.
The highlight is a “trump clause” which
effectively reverses the default situation of the Canonical's policy,
and mandates that when Canonical, Ltd.'s policy contradicts something
that the GPL requires,
And Renpy. And OpenMW. And OpenRA.
What exactly are you trying to do with GRUB?
Thanks Chris for pointing out !
Unfortunately I didn't feel too motivated to hear the rest of the show after
listening to it about 20 minutes while riding my bike to work. I think you
did a great job in this interview but the way this guy speaks makes my brain
hurt :-o
There's a difference between communicating with remote software, and using
remote software as a replacement for your own.
There is a huge difference between depending on remote software being there and
actively outsourcing your computing somewhere else. Retrieving a web page
depends on remote software being there, yet is clearly not substituting a
service for your own software.
I was replying to GNUser, not you. He said that since there are
exploits using SVG code, these might also apply to PNG. I explained why they
probably wouldn't (though I admit I didn't actually look anything up). It seems
common sense that PNG and SVG, being entirely different formats, could not be
I'm pretty sure screen brightness goes for every monitor connected to
batteries as the only power source.
The interview starts around the one hour mark.
yeah, but can it play Crysis 1? :P
It doesn't hurt to try :)
Let me know if you get power savings with the newest kernel.
I heard about this from the Free Software Supporter mailing list.
Quake Live isn't SaaSS, just a typical client-server multiplayer game as far
as I understand it.
Wwell I personally think its safer in some aspects.
Like for example, admins of those servers are very limited compared to
admins on a q3a server. id is basically the admin now, and its all in the
cloud. You can't just make your own server with your own hardware like in
q3a.
Which is
Sorry. I read too quickly. Even without the graphical utility, the same key
in GSettings may control the repetition, i.e., you could try that:
$ gsettings set org.gnome.settings-daemon.peripherals.keyboard repeat true
have you made any changes, like in pizza's thread, or from supertramps
pastebin? i had to dial back some changes myself that caused issues. I'm
just sticking with pizza's recommendations now.
No. aslacker - as far as I know it is much like privacy badger in this sense.
The both think that only the ads that track you are a bad thing and should be
blocked.
I think this is maybe the difference between quake 3 arena, and
quakelive.com?
And don't forget of Bradley Kuhn:

Indeed you would. I do not.
I was listening right from the 1h mark and stopped right somewhere near 1:20h
:-)
So I burned Trisquel ISO to a disk using InfraRecord on Windows 8.1 and then
I am using that to install Trisquel. But I cannot securely erase my whole HDD

Impressive- but can it handle Arma 2?
Somewhat off-topic: I upgraded from 3.13.0-55 to 3.13.0-57, and autoremoved
(which did appear to remove some old kernel packages), but for some reason both
entries existed concurrently for a bit in grub.cfg, even though it
update-grubbed at the end of the autoremoval process. The second entry
Sike! Nothing can handle Arma 2.
So that above link explains ATA Enhcaned Erasing.
So which one is better?
I am running an ATA Enhanced Erase now, but I do not mind running the normal
overwrite with zeroes option.
Aparently ATA Enhanced Erase is something built into the BIOS. ~
One is the overwriting with zeroes thing. It takes a long time, but
basically removes all data. ~ Does GParted have that option? To overwite
with zeroes?
Yes from the live session.
https://ata.wiki.kernel.org/index.php/ATA_Secure_Erase
I've got no idea what ATA Enhanced Erase is, but if I'm not mistaken, I
know of 2 ways of deleting a drive.
One is the overwriting with zeroes thing. It takes a long time, but basically
removes all data.
The other method I know of (which I think is more commonly used) is that it

I'm no expert so I can't fully understand the ATA Secure erase page (it seems
to also make data irrecoverable by recovery programmes if done to an SSD).
The thing is though, if you let the current erasing process finish and end up
with an empty drive after that, you (should) be able to
I've only heard of it but there is also the Bongo project, hosted by the
Software Freedom Conservancy, is another free server stack for hosting mail
and calendar data, but it's still in alpha, so handle with care. Anyone tried
it on Trisquel?

No, it happens in all applications. Not just the terminal.
I do not know what version I am running! I bought it running libreboot, and I
remember a year ago I updated it a couple times but have not done so since.
Is there a way for it to tell me what version it is?

why would it be an advantage to them if they released it?
DBAN (Darik's Boot and Nuke) is useful for overwrite all data on the disk:

is boot using a Trisquel Live session and then use shred utility from GNU
coreutils via a command line.
So like...:

Similar to the fact that no speach of Stalman will make Apple and M$ melt

report it to icecat developers, probably no one here is using that version,
the version of icecat in trisquel is 31.2 and in parabola it's 31.7
Oh yeah...and if it hurts your feeling that I was using a propritary non-free

Using any GNU/Linux with the free Noveau drivers will cause a performance
drop of 50% or more. So I decided to test on the fastest

I know, I just like a clean drive. :D
If openSSL would have been developed by the NSA, it would have been checked
many more times for vulnerabilities. If the NSA had insterest in having a
backdoor in a SELinux, we wouldn't know that it was developed by them. NSA
developed SELinux because they needed it, and released it as free
On the left of dmesg's output, messages are timestamped (in seconds) since
the boot. So if the keyboard stopped responding less than 100s ago, just read
dmesg's output bottom-up until the difference to the last time is 100.
'shred' is the best solution. It writes random data instead of zeros. By only
writing zeros (as in 'cat /dev/zero /dev/sda'), expensive equipments can
still recover some data (because writing a zero on top of a zero leads to a
magnetic state that is closer to zero than writing zero on top
No! The last Trisquel version is 31.8
I thnk I made some changes at some point to try to get Firefox Hello to work

problem is now solved!
If that's so, you can first try to update the kernel:

As for the speculation about the NSA making SELinux libre because of open

likely to basically be the case. But note also that SELinux is tied to

Not at all.
AFAIK Trisquel does not compile from source except for the modified

That will need to change so as to be able to escape the proprietary license
Canonical applies to the binaries. However, most packages are only built once
As far as I know we don't have the lasted re-clocking support on Trisquel 7
by default. If that's so you can expect better performance in Trisquel 8.
I hate the say it, but you're right. The last things NSA is interested in is
philosophy, ethics and doing good for people. But that's a reason to be
cautious with their software.
