I dug about a bit and found this solution to my problem:

Some versions of Déjà Dup will not correctly restore files stored in a
folder that you did not have write access to when you backed them up. After
the restore completes, you will get an
One thing that was somehow surprising was seeing the wide one-liner in the
donation page that represents its history. But that's OK since one can use
less to view it instead of gedit.
I thought the site used Semantic MediaWiki. But I guess that keeping the
current approach is also a good

You aren't running GitHub's software on your computer-- it doesn't affect
your freedom. What Onpon said, basically.
Non-free services can be bad, but aren't bad inherently.
It makes no sense to describe a service as non-libre. GitHub's code being
libre or not affects the owners of GitHub, not GitHub's users.
"the source code to GitHub isn't released publicly, and thus it is a non-free
service." " This isn't necessarily bad, of course." what??? why how can
this not bad??
Perhaps the F-Droid project is referring to the non-free JavaScript?
See:

yes, maybe. Not for the ones who fight for a free web.
GitHub is an online service-- the source code to GitHub isn't released
publicly, and thus it is a non-free service.
This isn't necessarily bad, of course.
I found like in 3 Github clients for android in F-Droid saying that Github
runs propietary software. Is that truth? Did you know that? Should we use
Gerrit instead?

I just found the possible cause of the bug.
It seems that the donations page has the thousands units separated from the
hundreds by a comma (","). It's OK, but if one tries to use this with awk, it
doesn't like it and simply discards it. It was quite a puzzle actually, but
it came to my
Legimet, rsync looks a bit above me, for now. But thank you.
I'm wondering if I will need to un-pack a backup file and copy the files I
want out of it. Deja-dup users: is that possible?
Thank you.

Well, restore from terminal did not work. "Sudo deja-dup" brought up the
Backup procedure, but when done I again got a list of the files that "failed
to load". Which was all of them.
I then tried "Restore to specific folder". I selected the "Home" folder. It
seemed to be working and

I tried the update through the configuration panel (Full Trisquel install,
only added Gnome Shell).
While I didn't have an automatic prompt, it worked that way for me (and on

Another thing you can easily and absolutely risk free do is clean the apt
cache.sudo apt-get clean
Of course, if you first make backups, then resizing the partitions is risk
free as well.
I see. I've no idea how I got this very small home partition. I'll have to
remove the old kernel images next time I'm running out of space, if I can't
find any other solution. Thanks for your help.
Expanding it would be risky, so if I were you I would wait until your next
upgrade. Then what I would do is abandon the approach of having a separate
/home partition and just make it all one partition (this is what I do now).
That amount of space should be fine as long as you periodically
Thank you. That freed more than 5 GiB, according to the program. It should
last for a while. Still, the partition's total size is only 13.97 GiB, so I'd
like to find a way to expand it.

Pardon my comment but I don't know your level of expertise..
You are not trying to do that within your normal Trisquel session, right? To
do that you will need to use a live DVD / USB
This command will relieve you of all old kernel versions, giving you more
space:
sudo echo $(dpkg --list | grep linux-image | awk '{ print $2 }' | sort -V |
sed -n '/'`uname -r`'/q;p') $(dpkg --list | grep linux-headers | awk '{ print
$2 }' | sort -V | sed -n '/'"$(uname -r | sed
I decided to expand the partition for "/" but I've encountered an issue.
I'm using GParted and it won't let me unmount it or modify it. I tried
unmounting with the terminal using sudo umount /dev/sda1 but it gives me the
following message: "device is busy.(In some cases useful info about

Which means your sum should match mine, of course. :-P

The headnote of the article you point out answers your question:
Since this article was first published, Sun (now part of Oracle) has
relicensed most of its Java platform reference implementation under the GNU
General Public License, and there is now a free development environment for

Congratulations on reaching 40k!!!
Trisquel is dying, some bugs still not fixed, autoupdater crashes, some
packages are outdated. This is one of the best free software distro, and hope
it survives. This is a lot of work for very few persons.
the goal is actually to reach certain MOQs (250 for Computer Cards). $150k

this was, in retrospect, rather naive :)

It's reassuring that you have not had any big problems with Parabola. I will
back up regularly so that if something goes wrong, I can use a different
computer until I figure out how to get Parabola working properly. Thanks for
your reply Eemeli.
