New to trisquel and, needless to say, loving it so far.

Guys, thanks a lot for your help... Gonna try things here and will come back

If you need high graphics performance but without non-free, you should buy

Since you mention sound issues related to Nvidia, I guess you use
HDMI/DisplayPort for both video and sound.
There should be another socket from integrated Intel graphics, which you can
plug your monitor in. That way you wouldn't depend on Nvidia at all.
You seem to have an Intel audio

There's no middle ground between free/libre software and

I completely agree, but if using Crossover keeps the OP from having a Windows

That doesn't make their proprietary version of wine ethical.
You do know that Crossover is the number one contributor to Wine development,
right?
As for gaming, I would like to suggest you help fund or contribute to libre
game development. What kinds of games do you like?
Recent GPUs don't work with libre kernels because they require proprietary
firmware blobs. Also, hardware that doesn't require proprietary software to
work typically requires a kernel update to work fully, so in general getting

I tried looking for Crossover both in the Free Software Directory,

consider it non-free software.

Hello Trisquel-World :)
I have just bought a new graphics card and put it into my computer, there

Hi Magic Banana,
You are 100% correct!
It is indeed VESA driver, and it is not designed by PowerVR. But in that
case, why it works flawless on a Trisquel 7.0, 32-bit version?
Anyway, thank you for input.

I think driver updates can be installed by installing

I have just installed Trisquel GNU/Linux 6.0.1, 64-bit version on my

Hi there and welcome. Few things to try is a newer Linux-libre kernel, you
can easily install one from http://jxself.org/linux-libre/
And then you can try updating the X server packages, you can use the Synaptic
package manager to do that. The newest xserver packages have a -lts-raring
I also have Nvidia but I use intel drivers. So in my configuration,
trisquel-mini, I run default kernel with compiz+emerald and libgl1-mesa-dri
and I have no problems. Try this:
sudo apt-get install linux-headers-generic mesa-utils libegl1-mesa
libglu1-mesa libgl1-mesa-dri
Oh you're right, thanks for the heads up!
I have updated the kernel and installed all packages (some with the

GNOME crashes again. (and I'm getting back to the login screen)
Is there any logs or a way to see what's happening?
Due to the fact that you can't get past the login screen, these instructions
