GNOME is the desktop environment Trisquel uses. So, from a visual standpoint,
it's everywhere. GNOME is a huge collection of programs that form a cohesive
environment (including such programs as: Nautilus, File-roller, Evolution,
gedit, GNOME Terminal, GNOME Calculator, and many others), not
Where is GNOME?
What do you mean, that it doesn't have any settings? When I left click on it,
then click Time & Date settings, I get access to the settings. However, when
I update them, they do not take effect on it.
1. Sorry, it wasn't logging off, but locking, so that I had to re-enter my
password. Fixed using someone else's comment.
2. I am using vanilla Abrowser, but flash video player is buggy; there's
static in the right corner of the video, and the video scroll bar doesn't
work at all, and there
(Thanks for bringing me up to speed. I personally opted for a lighter window
manager, guess it would be wise to not comment on this I'm not 100% sure.)
There seems to be a related bug with a suggested workaround, [#13379].
I've never heard of Trisquel mini, so I think Trisquel.
(1) Lock screen. Fixed.
(2) Thanks, I'll look into that.
(3) If I do that with ctrl or shift, I get a popup button named "about",
which doesn't lead anywhere useful. If I do it using alt, I get the ability
to move it, or to remove it
I tried that, and it's still not fixed. Right now, the clock says 08:58, with
no AM.
First time I hear about a GNU installation doing "automatic log off". Is that
possible? Lock screen is another thing..
For searching, viewing and downloading youtube vids I can recommend SMTube.
The version in your repo is outdated and it won't work. You download the
source code of the

I guess you could do that with configuring the powernap package that watches
for inactivity to trigger the gnome-session-quit command (from the
gnome-session-bin package).
(1) Alter the time it takes for the computer to automatically log off
(2) watch youtube videos (the stock flash player software is unacceptably
buggy)
(3) change the system time to AM/PM (I've already changed it, but the taskbar
still displays military time regardless.)
Lock screen control is under "Brightness & Lock" in the System Settings. I
don't think anything actually logs you out automatically.
lembas: the Indicator Applet which Trisquel 7 uses by default doesn't have
any settings. I think what moxalt suggested is what you want to do. (It's
1. No idea. I didn't even know that Trisquel logged itself off automatically.
I've never experienced this myself. Anyone?
2. You should either just use vanilla Abrowser, in which case you will
experience YouTube as in normal Firefox. Alternatively, you could use IceCat
with HTML5 Video enabled.
Are you on Trisquel or Trisquel mini?
(1) Do you mean actually log off or just lock screen?
(2) These might be of interest

Please be aware of the privacy risks associated with using youtube (=google).
(3) Have you tried
That's the global time and date settings for GNOME, not specific to the
applet. But if you've got 24-hour time on your clock, then yes, it should
definitely respond to it; my clock, which is also the Indicator Applet, shows
AM/PM. I'd suggest following moxalt's suggestion of waiting for some
Just in case you couldn't find Youtube in HTML:
https://youtube.com/html5
Click "Request the HTML5 Player" and you'll be able to watch YT videos.
This works in Abrowser, Icecat, Firefox, and several other web-browsers.
interesting lembas, thx for the tip!
