I have a kernel panic situation after doing apt upgrade.
I forgot to do autoremove and autoclean. My fault.
Now it doesn´t boot.
I dont´t see the option to use another kernel.
I wake up early, I spend 8 euros in a pendrive, I download Trisquel and
create a bootable USB drive.
I connect the
Thanks for the response. I'll chalk it up to RAM, then!

This has happened to me before also. In my case, it was a very random
occurance. Possibly from getting overheated. Not sure beyond that though. -_-
Someone on IRC linked me to this "New California" website. My screen
froze, my CAPS LOCK light started flashing, and my computer rebooted
itself. I got a kernel panic.
Why was this?
I have also gotten this when running the web program Twitch in my Abrowser.

There's no information here that indicates the cause. Depending on when it
happened the kernel might not have been able to write anything to the drive
anyway. The only way to diagnose the cause of a kernel crash is through the
use of kdump: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kdump_(Linux) which
I always have issues when my system go to sleep and I'm forced to restart the
system and disable hibernate option in the system.
Sorry I cant help, but I noticed this issue with all the distributions that I
tested in the past (Ubuntu,Manjaro,Trisquel, elementary os,Debian,Fedora)
I just came back to my desk after a few hours and my laptop would not
wake up. The caps lock indicator was blinking. I assumed this was a
kernel panic.
But why?

I had this issue with a x200 flashed to Libreboot two years ago.
When I ran qemu with --enable-kvm or when I used libvirt (with virt-manager),
it freezed and I was forced to hard shutdown.
The x200 had a a P8400 Core 2 Duo, I don't remember the batch.. but on my
current x200 (with a P8600)

Hi,
I'm having the same problem. Have you found any solution or have clues about
this problem?
That is a bug in the CPU. The only solution for this us using a different
CPU. The Vikings D16 and the Talos II do not have that problem.
ah, the ol kernel panic,
yep, I have had that happen on my x200 when I use virtual machines. It may
be related to kvm.
not sure though.
I am attempting to install PureOS 8.0 (beta) on a libreboot Taurinus laptop
running Trisquel 8 using virt-manager. Everytime I try to create the PureOS
virtual machine, I get a black screen filled with a whole lot of meaningless
stuff on it. The screen freezes so all I can do is restart
Hi everybody, I updated my kernel following the instructions from many
websites (because I´m not a developer, so don´t use advanced concepts with
me) and finally I could, but it gives me a kernel panic.
I was like Yes! Finally I could do it! but then me was like Oh, Jesus!
These are the
Why not use https://jxself.org/linux-libre/
Then, getting the latest kernel is as easy as installing any other program
via your package manager.

Hi everybody, I just joined the forum with the intention to report this.
I'm also being affected by this bug, it has happened after installing
updates, according to the update manager the new kernel installed would be

I had a kernel panic a week ago or something like that, but I didn't think
much of it so I didn't bother saving the log then.
Did it happen more than one time ?
I got a kernel panic, curious if anybody can see what happened.
Using latest Trisquel Mini. I wasn't at my computer when it happened so it
shouldn't have been very busy.
