I'm "cross-posting" this to trisquel-users and libreplanet-discuss mailling
lists.
So, I made a "counting" on the opinions/votes so far, here is the table:
_
. "GNU" SD $Nome G+L "LibreOS"
I put in Duckduckgo and google: "richard stallman windows", and searched in
images.
Oh man! Where did you get this! It's so cool! I want the hight quality one as
a wallpaper. :D
That wouldn't be fair to Linux Torvlads.
And coming from the same people who want to give the GNU Project their
due.that's make us look like arses.
That's the point... just because something is widely used (seemingly the aim
of Linux and its blobs, understandable to a certain extent) does not mean
that it will spread freedom or the ideals of it. If people don't value
liberty why give it to them?
I don't think ChromeOS is a good example of freedom.
GNU+Linux
I never disagreed more with a post on a Triskello forum. I don't think it
would be necessary to answer all the points of yours. I'd only like to answer
one point though->
>I think this is why free software is so small.
This is where you got it totally wrong. See, the reason why it is so
> Corporations have the power because of governments.
No.
GNU alone is not right because it contradicts what RMS has been tellin the
world all along. It's GNU plus Linux. A totally different situation arises if
the GNU kernel is ever finished and polished to be useful and stable or if
they (the GNU project) come up with another kernel of their own.
I have listened several times to Richard Stallman calling for
the use of "GNU with Linux" (GNU/Linux).
Still, for some time I went into thinking this - We don't say
Android/Linux, do we? So why should we say GNU/Linux instead of just
GNU?
And then, I had the occasion to

I tend to talk about the distribution name e.g.
"I use Trisquel"
"What is it?"
"It's a distribution of the GNU Operating System, made up of just free
software. It uses Linux as it's kernel"
"Oh, I have heard of Linux, my friend is obsessed with it!"
"It's not what your friend thinks. Linux
Most of GNU+Linux users, think that they using Linux operating system. I
agree with you, and I love call Richard's OS as is: "GNU". But GNU+Linux
users don't know what is GNU.
I don't really understand your point here. You say governments are the
problem, but surely private power is worse, in that it has even less
accountability to the population? It is contradictory to talk about liberty
yet make these points.
I'm not really sure how people's physical appearance
Corporations have the power because of governments. Governments accept
software patents, governments with their "obama care" gives medical
corporations power to *bleep* the peoples health, including "food"
corporations with their GMO. Governments is the problems, greedy corporations

> Marketing
What's the point of getting something widely used if people do not know why
GNU/Linux exists, the raison d'être, so to speak. Otherwise, the existence
of Chrome OS would be proof we have won.
I want free software to be widely used. But I don't want it just to get some
arbitrary
I believe the stubbornness from GNU and free software community is doing more
harm then good.
I am more leaning for calling it just Linux because it is a lot better for
marketing the operating system. Were the fight should be is difference
between the mind send of free software and open
I believe that we shouldn't do the same thing that was done to us. And by we,
I meant the GNU and the FSF xD
What I mean is that Linux as a kernel and the open software community should
be recognize for their contribution to the system as well.
At least that was my first reaction. But then
Remember: This topic is about free system distributions (those which are
fully compliant with the GNU Free System Distribution Guidelines).
Some free software activists from Brazil have been doing a
counter-campaign against society's tendency to call GNU+Linux just as
"Linux". Instead of calling
