Great idea, thanks again.
It worked, but not completely.
When I sudo synaptic, it works.
From dmenu (it's a menu, as the name says), I can open synaptic-pkexec
instead of plain, non sudo synaptic.
a prompt pops up, but then it's synaptic without the the Trisquel theme.
Maybe it will be ok

Do you mean Linus' law? That: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linus%27s_Law
That is not rms'.
if thats true, then I guess like linus, stallman also doesn't care about

Kind of contradicting though to be against secrecy, and claim that has

Abiword generally offers many plugins:
http://abiword.org/wiki/PluginMatrix
One of them is necessary to be able to read docx-files. But hardly any of the
plugins are in the Trisquel repositories.
Does anybody know a way to get them?
Packages for Ubuntu are not being built anymore:
It seems such software does not exist, but I thought I should give a shot
here just to make sure.
I am after FSF compliant forex trading software which runs natively from the
trisquel desktop, instead of a web browser.
I've tried searching for such software but have found nothing yet.
I didn't try that. I installed Trisquel only on saturday and made updates in
Synaptic. Now, with policykit, no problem with the update manager.
What about https://tutanota.de/?

No, it works around a problem in Radeon which has recently prevented it from

I was wondering though, could you show what free software projects you

I have to admit that i'm naïvely assuming that a malicious company would be
out of business because of their actions being public. Recent history tells
me otherwise.
My reasoning was that if they have a malicious product, they're out of
business because of the justified bad press. Yeah
Thanks SuperTramp83 for your suggestions and links. I did try a few of the
methods detailed in the links but no success with Trisquel 6. Then recently,
as mentioned in other threads, I dual-booted Trisquel 7 on the same machine.

Privacy is the lowest common denominator.
But isn't why free software was started back in 1983. This is a continuation

cooloutac claimed free software was started for privacy and security

Compiling (or building) means turning the source code that humans can read
into binary that the computer can run.
Most packages follow the standard

Sure, here they are.
Abrowser looks mostly fine (maybe the navigation bar is off).
With Synaptic, Claws and Thunar (and others), someting is missing.
Today's work was modeling another suburban house, one I saw in a dream awhile
ago (interior).
Also added farms (furrows).
Some code bugfixes pertaining to making sure any lowerclass/industrial areas
near an upperclass area are replaced with middleclass areas.
No. The radeon driver is free but it used to require a non-free binary blob
firmware. This is no longer the case. It's good to see you value freedom!
Well actually at the moment it is the best one. Openmailbox I think has
cookies attached to it. :(
Noscript picks up suspicious scripts on it.
and yes I know that it was on the list.
It is also the best one on the list though (at the moment.)
What do you mean? jxself provides the community with an APT repository of
linux-libre which is deblobbed. His post was informing us he has updated it
to include GNUtoo's patch to restore support for the radeon module.
so much for a blob free kernel
This patch does not introduce a blob, nor enable the loading of them, so I do
not understand your comment.
What are the names of the font packages installed by default in Trisquel's
LiveCD? (I always debootstrap and there seems to neither be an Ubuntu nor
Trisquel default font metapackage, apart from Ubuntu Studio's which seems to
ask for non-free fonts).

Freedom one is the freedom to study and modify the program. This allows you

I tried to use the guides on the websites but they are a little beyond me.
I wondered if anyone could simplify what I need to do by telling me as simply

What desktop shell are you using?
Many thanks David, very good idea :)
I found trisquel-gtk-theme in synaptic with 3 gtk engines inside.

still a bit ugly, but there might be dedicated themes.
On the other hand, synaptic didn't change, even after
Right now I have a Trisquel Netinstall. I installed xorg, LightDM and i3wm

I have no desktop environment, only i3wm.
I also already have lxappearance installed.
Have you tried changing he theme using lxappearance (and maybe installing the
package from Sysnaptic as well instead of simply copying from the CD, since
installing the package means that whatever packages the theme depend on will
be installed as well)?
Stop trolling cooloutac. Jxself isn't distributing anything with proprietary
software. If you actually looked at GNUtoo's patch (which isn't very big) you
would know this. But instead, you'll continue to accuse jxself of
distributing proprietary software.
I'm more about the practical real tangible reasons. Thats what I love so

I may be wrong but I don't thinm Synaptic's to be blamed at all here.
Anyway, do you use Synaptic by su-ing and then entering su to the command as

Thanks to Denis 'GNUtoo' Carikli for his patch [0] to make the radeon kernel

proprietary firmware isn't there. I've made these changes to Linux-libre
