Hey guys,
I just got a new mouse my mother brought for me. However, it is too fast. I
tried looking at the settings and i can't change the mouse sensitivity. Can
you help me?
P.S: The mouse has a DPI button. How do i get it to work in trisquel?
Ah, my bad, the correct file is /etc/modprobe.d/radeon.conf.
And yes that is what I meant.
And indeed any text editor will do, as long as you have super user
privileges.
I installed the linux-libre 4.1 (from jxself's repo) on my Debian 8 (kali),
bht it didn't show such image on the booting screen. Why?
Hi,
How can I make Tor my default Browser?
Followed what I found for Ubunutu, but didn't work.
Basically I have 2 hard drives in my computer. The C:/ Drive has my original
windows inside. Now my second hard drive which is D:/ is empty but when I try
to for example go onto this hard drive in the boot mode I get the Grub Rescue
error. Even though nothing is on the hard drive at all. I
What you're trying to do isn't possible. #define is a preprocessor command,
executed at compile time. Any instances of USE_KCHMVIEWER get replaced in the
code, before it is compiled, with the value of USE_KCHMVIEWER. So there isn't
a way to change such constants at run-time, and "undefining"
When clicking on Tools i am offered a file search (Shift + Ctrl + F), but it
is greyed out. I can't look for files! Why?
This is Trisquel mini.
I recently installed the necessary package to be able to use the locate
command in the terminal, but that didn't help.
Magic Banana's solution works too.
But one strange thing to note:
If i set it the way as suggested by you it isn't possible to start the
browser via...
$x-www-browser
...or...
$gnome-www-browser
both commands just bring up this message -->
/usr/bin/env: ./Browser/execdesktop:
Seems like it is the authentication problem:
http://trisquel.info/en/issues/15394
http://trisquel.info/en/forum/pcmanfm-not-authorized-perform-operation
I hope Trisquel 7.1 will have this fixed, so that we don't have to be root to
look for a file.
Hmmm. That is a system problem then (we wrote our last messages at the same
time). It looks like one of your partitions cannot be mounted. And it may be
the one with /home (since the system manages to show you the graphical log in
screen, it appears to be working fine). In other words: it
the name of the indicator should be indicator-applet and if you type that in
the terminal it should start. If I am correct, then all you need to do is
make sure it starts automatically on boot. In xfce there is an option in the
main settings called Session and startup and there one can add
I think the alternative Trisquel desktops in general (such as Xfce and LXDE,
but not including KDE or GNOME obviously) just have problems with this sort of
thing all over. Xfce (which I've had extensive experience with, although I've
never used LXDE) under Trisquel cannot mount or unmount drives
It would be helpful I believe: all contributions are welcome! :-)
warning: unused variable ‘useKchmviewer’ [-Wunused-variable]
That is not an error. Only a warning. The code was compiling successfully.
The warning is telling you that the Boolean you defined is not used: you
write in the variable "useKchmviewer" but never read from it.
A little more info:
After restarting I got the black screen with the words "Trisquel 7.0"
followed by:
" Continue to wait, or Press S to skip mounting or M for manual recovery."
Waiting for ten minutes didn't lead anywhere, so I pressed S and got a
passphrase prompt (disk is encrypted)
GParted can wipe the existing partitions off your hard drive. Just create a
bootable DVD/USB from the downloadable Trisquel ISO image, then boot into the
live environment. From there you can find it under System Settings.
This problem likely has nothing to with authentication. The problem probably
is that your desktop crashes when it starts. Probably because of some
personal configuration. If there is another user account on the system, I bet
she can log in without any issue. Sam thing if you choose another
That's actually helpful! Now, if only I could figure out how to make it run

I personally didn't do anything "'under the hood', if that is what you mean

Does that alter any of your advice? Can I effect change from the Guest

I'm so sorry , Mr. GNUser...
Hi guys.
i have a serious issue with the 3d graphics with trisquel. they seem to have

ones such as Nexuiz. Here's an example with doom (With a free/libre/open

Hello folks, yet another mystery to solve...

So USB images written with Startup Disk Creator are messed up and don't work,
while images written with dd work wonderfully.
The answer to your question is simple- just use dd from now on!
An update on this: the ownCloud desktop sync client is back in the repos, and
I installed it today. Same situation as I described in the OP. Seems to be
performing the sync, but still comes up with that error message on start-up.
I will file a bug report after I reboot to get a screenshot.
Why is it an "advanced task"? You just open the graphic interface and modify
the settings. I don't see why anybody should do updates every day via command
line.
Btw, i am using Trisquel mini on an old Dell as well and never had problems
with the graphic updater. Whether it didn't always
@Magic Banana:
Seems to be a very nice way of simplifying the whole procedure... i'll

from terminal), so i didn't come

Those buttons are almost always hardware-based, which means they work
regardless of the operating system.

Hi Embracer, can you give us a rundown of exactly what hardware you are
running Trisquel on? I try to put all the info I have about my hardware under
'personal information' on my forum profile, so its easy to find when forum
members are helping me.
I have no end of problems with 3D games,
If it's too fast, slow it down? In GNOME you open System Settings and click
on Mouse & Touchpad and adjust the "Pointer Speed" thingy there.
I understood that part, I just don't understand C++ yet. The main problem is
that I'm unable to test the changed code before the compilation, only after.
Together this means that it's very difficult for me to work on the code.
What works for this less-than-a-year user of Trisquel 7 is to run Software
Updater from the GUI whenever I feel like it, and then run sudo apt-get
update and sudo apt-get upgrade immediately thereafter, just to fill in the
blanks. It's entertaining to see whether Software Updater asks for

Just the best time now for me to answer that question, because just a few

I replaced #define with bool as suggested (note: why this doesn't work?)
if (system("which kchmviewer > /dev/null") == 0)

bool useKchmviewer = true;
}
else
{
// "which kchmviewer" exit code 1
bool useKchmviewer = false;

Yes, it has some advantages although it requires some extra steps in the
terminal.
The normal GUI install doesn't give you full control over the layout of your

is not an option if you want to install offline or your NIC is not
I had an amd athlon x2 cpu on the mainboard. It was fast enough for one

Or else I'll just go with jxself's solution

Hi,
Just wanted to know: where can I find Trisquel 7 for the fsf member card?

We can help you with the installation of Trisquel, not Windows:

Nope.
I removed the"quiet" &"splash", but still...
I got success with this on the trisquel :P
Gracias guys for your critical thinking

Take a looks at the "Details" utility in the "System settings". You can

Since your question is about Debian it seems more appropriate to ask in the

I tried so, but I could only find Abrowser and Icecat.

right?
Is the Tor Browser available from the repo? I have not found it.
Maybe I should
"Tor" installed from the repos is merely the service itself. You would have
to configure a browser of your own to use with it.
"Tor Browser Bundle" is a stand-alone package downloaded from TorProject.org
which you run without installing anything. I don't know how to make it

There currently isn't one for Trisquel 7. I understand that it will be

normal Trisquel ISO image on your card and then copy the FSF files onto it.
