A question about kernels, what are linux-generic-headers packages, and why
are they sometimes held back when I run sudo apt-get upgrade?
Apparently they're used to build third-party modules for your kernel.
Sometimes you need to dist-upgrade instead. From the manual page of
apt-get(8):
FWIW I'm on 64 bit Trisquel 6. Abrowser 39 + NoScript - Gnash. Very solid
experience, as always.
It just means the module won't be automatically loaded. (Unless required by
some other module.) There should be no freedom implications since all the
modules in Trisquel are free.

You can put the command to /etc/rc.local. You need to be a super user to edit

Sometimes things go backwards instead of forwards. Trying a newer kernel is
just something that's easy to try. :-/

There might be something in the config it doesn't like. You could try

still don’t see why its taking so long to be reviewed by the fsf though
One has to ask the fsf for a review. I think most bsd people dislike the fsf
as they have a very different notion of freedom, and don't mind proprietary
software (obvious if you look at their license).

For the mirroring I believe rsync is the right tool. It supports delta

You could try the nitrogen package for picking wallpapers. It allows custom
directory and background color and tiling.
I think this is a great idea. These days we run into DRM everywhere, (in
computers and phones obviously,) in printers, tractors, cars, garage doors,
you name it. For people to be able to say no to DRM they first have to learn
about how it confines them. Good initiative Chris.

Hi there! I'd say start with the Synaptic package manager under system
settings. See how things are arranged and what it can do for you. What kind
of packages are offered. Learn about dependencies and how those are
automatically resolved for you. Remove the older kernels you probably have.
I also don't recall anything about software freedom that would favor
convenience, or favor one set of APIs over another set of APIs (as might
affect building programs with a Free C++ compiler versus some non-free C++
compiler) without some clear adverse effect on a user's freedoms to run,
The caveat of trying to do the homework yourself is that if it works with

Linux-libre. In a similar vein some devices proudly state that their driver
is open source, yet fail to mention that it is more or less useless with a
