What's wrong with I2PSnark; the default web-based torrent client in I2P?
Thank you very much for that link. Even KDE decided to support the project:

What's the error message exactly? Electrum is known to work well with Ubuntu.
Thus, it should also work with Trisquel.
Thank you very much for this link. That's awesome news.
You are welcome. I use it on a daily basis and can really recommend it very
much. Don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions.
Yes, please try to re-join GNU!
Docear (http://www.docear.org/) is nice.
Great effort. Keep up the good work, guys! You are awesome. :-)
Wow, that's good news. Thank you for posting this here.
That's good news! Here is the official announcement, btw:
http://blog.replicant.us/2017/02/replicant-6-0-development-updates/
I also highly doubt that this information is correct. Trisquel 5.5 is also a
very old version, which probably is not run anymore by anyone on this forum.
Apologies for misleading comments and thank you very much for your
clarifications, Fil. I realize that having wifi dongle support is not "the
real thing" yet but it's far better than nothing. Keep up the good work,
guys!
I think the main issue that has been solved by the poster on the Replicant
forums is the following: "Warning! This modified nonofficial Replicant
version is experimental and until this moment we haven't been able to get
WiFi working after a reboot without reformatting /data partition.".
I don't know too much about smartphones and their underlying technology but
the Replicant project seems to have made some very serious recent progress
concerning official wifi support:

Hello there,
I can tell you from experience that VGA and HDMI work perfectly well with

What are trying to achieve with this new thread? Pouring more oil into the
fire? Shouldn't we first wait for the facts? The list of facts we have at
hand so far is:
- Libreboot left the GNU project
- There are many wild accusations from many parties out there
Anything else is just pure
There is now an official announcement from Libreboot:
https://libreboot.org/gnu/
This whole issue is wrong on so many levels and does so much harm to the GNU
project, the FSF and (most of all) to Libreboot itself. Let's hope that all
involved parties can soon talk things through and fix
Ok, after performing some research I now get the general idea about this
whole "FCC vs. free firmware" issue.
@Chris: I think it's very confusing that the official link from the FSF
website redirects to an "access denied" page. I know that you must be very
busy these days but wouldn't it
I'm confused now. Does that mean that I can't buy the mentioned router from
you at this moment? If yes, I still don't understand why exactly. What's your
suggestion in the meantime? I need a new router right now, unfortunately. If
you don't sell this router, I would have to buy this model
I already contacted him but didn't get a reply so far, which is why I tried
to ask here whether you know of some other sources I could use to get a new
router and help free software at the same time.
Hello guys,
I just have one very quick question for you: Which routers do you use (with
free firmwares, of course) and where did you get them from? I was actually
planning to buy a new router for myself and wanted to go for the
FSF-certified TPE-NWIFIROUTER
Interesting! Thank you for that link. I'm also wondering why this has been
abandoned.
I'm not really sure about the general financial situation of Trisquel but
wouldn't it be an option to create a "bounty" program to help fix urgent
issues? It could, for example, work as follows:
User A is eager to see feature X and is willing to pay 10 euros for seeing it
in Trisquel. User
That's what I was talking about! Thank you very much for providing some

@Ruben: Do you have any plans to further decentralize the development of
Trisquel? How could the community be involved in a better way? How can the
@t3g: I don't think that Ruben is giving us some kind of "attitude" here.
It's just that he seems to be a bit overwhelmed and, to be honest, I would
definitely feel the same if I were the sole maintainer of such an important
distribution. It's not like he let's us all wait on purpose. It's
Thank you very much for taking the time to respond to this thread and also
for taking the time to fix the update scripts again. Well done! Maybe, in
this context, I should change the title of this thread to something less
intimidating in order to continue to enable a fruitful base for
Where exactly did I "bitch"? I tried to make a point as politely as possible.
If I didn't succeed, I'm sorry as I didn't want to insult anyone. However, I
fail to see where exactly I did that.
Let's try to keep this on a professional level, please.
It seems like you are getting updates quite often because you enabled some
additional repositories. That is, however, unfortunately not true for the
rest of us using the default repositories only.
My criticism was not about the lack of bleeding edge software. It was all
about the lack of
That's exactly the sentiment SalmanMohammadi was talking about. If all
discussion about issues related to the maintainers is silenced by a "stop
whining" statement, I don't see any base for enabling constructive criticism.
I disagree. In my opinion security updates should always be provided ASAP,
while other features are not as crucial. But maybe that's just me and other
people don't need security updates right away.
"Besides, has everyone forgotten how long it took for both Trisquel 6 and
Trisquel 7 to be released?" That's a different point. My point mentioned
above is that very important security updates are simply not available. This
is completely different from delaying the release of a new LTS
The last commit made there was 17 days ago. Additionally: How does it help
the community to know that the project is active if this information has to
be retrieved from some repository instead of "official" channels like blogs,
forum posts, etc...? You can't expect community members
I don't agree with this statement. If you think that users should not be the
meat of a distribution, why would you go public and advertise it for everyday
use? You could explicitly state that you don't want users to use it on their
home machines or that you won't provide any support or
You are right, I'm also not in a position to demand anything. It's just very
sad that the community is left in the dark about the future of this project.
Nice! Where could I buy one of those?
Hello guys,
I have never been a very active member of this community even though I'm very
passionate about free software. The main reason for this are time
restrictions. As I didn't (and still don't) have too much of time, I was very
happy that somebody (i.e. Ruben) filled the gap and
Same problem here. :-(
Unfortunately, you are very right about this. :-( In the long run, I might do
the same.
If you install Trisquel-Mini and thus use XFCE, you can easily add a
"Keyboard language switcher" to the taskbar.
Wow, this looks nice. I would totally back this, if I had the money. ;-)
I also have many issues with Icedove. Some of them could be resolved by

Surprisingly, the problem seems to be gone now after a simple reboot. I don't
really know why; maybe it was a hardware issue...
Hi Pandya,
How did your mouse stop working? Right now, I'm also having some issues with

behavior is really starting to get on my nerves. Maybe this could be related

I would also like to get an update about this issue. Is it finally solved and
safe to upgrade to this version again? Thanks a lot for any feedback.
You don't even have to compile Bitcoin core as you can just run the
pre-compiled binary coming with the package. It runs perfectly fine on my
Trisquel machine.
Well written, MagicBanana. I just wanted to add that Replicant does have
(back-)camera support on the Samsung Galaxy S3.
Will Trisquel also make that switch? If not, why not?
I really hate to split hairs, but maybe it's a good idea to check the
spelling of the English translation first. ;-D It could, for example, rather

and has been released as free software (i.e. it respects
Hi there,
You can replace the proprietary Oracle package with OpenJDK
(http://openjdk.java.net/). That's a free Java version. :-)
Is there a way to install it on Replicant, for example? I would like to use
this on my smartphone.
Cheers! :-)
IMHO Python. Why, you ask? Let other people tell us the answer:

I'm wondering the same. Has anybody tried it?
Welcome to freedom!
Does this help:

java version and install OpenJDK instead.
These commands should do the trick:
In this survey I mentioned that I reckon it's important to stop listing Gnash
as a "high priority" project. Flash is a slowly dying technology and the
resources spent on developing Gnash can be much better used developing other
crucial free software like Replicant, Libreboot, etc...
Thank you so much! That did the trick for me. However, this can only be a
temporary workaround and will hopefully be fixed very soon.
I completely agree with you that you can't force people to work on other
projects. I just wouldn't list Gnash as a high priority project as this
probably means the developers are getting some money from the FSF which could
be used much better for other projects.
I just opened a ticket for this issue. It can be found here:

There is some interesting news about the Librem project:

I agree. Please don't use sourceforge. They're awful.
Wow, RISC-V looks indeed like the architecture the free software community

will definitely be a game-changer. I think it would be better to create a

I don't have time to listen to all the episodes but what I've heard sounds

I have given up on waiting for a solution for this issue of establishing a
working cable connection between Ubuntu or Trisquel and Android. Thus, I

That's exactly what I stated in my post. The Gates Foundation does some good

for example). Nothing in this world is purely good and nothing is purely bad.
Everything has two sides.

I know the history of GNU/Linux and I know the history of Microsoft. I'm not

Could you maybe post the link to the video for future reference?
Which driver are you using? From my experience I can tell that the nouveau

Hello,
I'm using abrowser 39.0 and the Youtube all add-on. Until recently
