I think the same used to happen to me. The problem was shown after mounting a
samba shared folder, suspend, resume and then trying to open nautilus. Could
it be the same what is happening to you? In that case just remember to eject
the smb folder before going to suspend.
Now that you mention it I have mounted a samba share when it occurs and that
is when it occurs, thank you for the info.
How will people be watching this? I've tried watching youtube live with vlc
but the most I ever get is about ten seconds before it crashes. My internet
is pretty slow, about 3mb download. Messed with the settings but it always
seems to pick the highest resolution which can't help.
It's a shame this game data can't be obtained through a simple http download.
That would seem to negate the problem. Why do they insist on distributing
this data through their proprietary software program? Is it a DRM thing?
The whole situation is unfortunate, because this could be a shining
I have a slow Internet connection, too. I'll just be watching it via

I don't have to worry about youtube's proprietary javascript in the HTML5

I don't think it's a good thing to promote using a proprietary program to

If you want to share the work ethically, do
You could instead just get a Wifi USB dongle at ThinkPenguin- that way you

Why do we have proprietary apps promotion on the Trisquel forums? Why is
the confusion between gratis and libre encouraged? This thread should
not exist here according to the forum rules.
Thanks for the link.
I will buy it next month, but actually I read the free files, so I can today
start to learn the history.
i have a fast internet connection how do you watch live youtube videos with
vlc??
also if your using wifi you could try connecting to your router with a
Ethernet cable as that would be a faster more reliable connection
I believe selling copies of digital works is not sustainable, so please don't
tell people to make their game data proprietary and paid.
Just paste the video URL into VLC with Ctrl+V, or Media-Open Location from
clipboard.
Well it's took me nearly a week (my internet searching leaves a lot to be
desired) but I finally found the developers answer.
Hi,
the current ubuntu guvcview version is broken with kernels = 3.16, you need
the latest version 2.0.1
You can get it from the sourceforge download (Files) section
Dev-C++ is an IDE, not a compiler. The compiler it uses is MinGW.
It runs proprietary firmware.
LAS videos get published as recordings. So there's that.
While my Trisquel installation seems perfectly happy with things as they are,
it occurs to me that when the time comes that I need to update the BIOS of my
legacy motherboard (no Intel email, phone or chat support) can I or should I
even try, and can I do so without resort to a *indows
where is this going? wtf is wrong with this world?
Looks like the flashrom package might come handy. Just install the package
and fire away I believe. Note that you don't want to run out of power while
the update is taking place or you risk bricking your box.
I remember doing a BIOS update in my former life to enable larger hard disks.
Honestly, though I'm using a TP USB wifi radio in a Toshiba laptop with an
Intel wifi build in, I don't feel like I've gained much, if anything, from
this purchase. I could run something like Ubuntu Mate, and have the same set
of free apps. If I did this, and never used that ugly Software
A private messenger chided me for discussing non-free S/W, but that's the
point that lembas addresses above: there _is_ a Trisquel package to perform
the task of upgrading BIOS without having to resort to *indows. I was worried
because the much-praised Intel site doesn't mention any support
You're not talking about using a proprietary program to replace it. You're
talking about obtaining a copy of something by running a proprietary program.
The only possible analog I can think of is doing so with the intent of
sharing copies of the data with others illegally; in that case, you
Smart tv is a tv that watches you
Smart phone is a phone that watches you
Smart 'something' is 'something' that watches you
A curious use of the smart word related to a device.
That would be hypocrisy. I experienced people on this forum who can't stand
to use a small piece of non-free blob without a sharp critique, but they
seems to be fine with using Windows in dual-boot on their computers. It's
very hard to conform to all the Biblical laws, country laws, and
I bet most people involved in the movie would be more than happy that the
video is shared, as long as more people are reached :)
minitube! Though, it's best that you know the exact title of the video.
If i had to choose between a rich world of non-free *culture* (such as video
game art) and a dry desert of free culture (which would probably be a
consequence of the difficulties making cash out of artistic work), i'd choose
the first one.
Non functional data doesn't have to be free,
smart phone is a phone that knows more about you then your own mama!

not.

That's exactly how it started!
i use nano aswell but vim looks good if you get used to it
and emacs looks good if you spend alot of time learning it
notepad++ is a good editor aswell
its a windows program but its libre software and runs very well in wine(also
libre software)
i can see this being good if you can flash your own operating system on to it

FredB: I see that you didn't take the effort to even see if your wireless NIC

It really bothers me that every idiot knows my shopping
What mYself is suggesting is using proprietary game data with a libre game

I completely agree with your SaaSS points (I was actually made aware of it

gnewsense 4 will be great for servers aslong as it gets security updates
and also i think one of the advantages of gnewsense is it runs on MIPS
computers not something it know alot about but if you have one of those

Not only is suggesting proprietary software foolish, it is potentially
dangerous in this case.
This is why we support free software--if Origin were free, the community
would remove the spyware and carry on.
We have to decide what we will do with our system.
I have only Trisquel as operation system, because I want the change in my

I would avoid using Notepad++ unless you compile it yourself with a libre
compiler; the official binaries are compiled with Visual Studio, a
proprietary compiler. This is the case for quite a lot of Windows binaries,
actually.
But the firmware gets executed, doesn't it?
I have to say, i don't have any knowledge about where firmware is stored
exactly, how it gets executed and what it can basically do.
But sure it has to be loaded onto the device and get executed... why
shouldn't it be capable to access the

So... is this really all free (libre) software?
I haven't stated anywhere that the client is free software. Like Steam, you
need to use proprietary software to legally obtain the game data, which then
can be used in freedom. It's a one-time usage scenario. If you're not okey
with that. I'm pretty sure you can ask a friend to get the game
i dont think you can say the same for apples mobile computers.

The firmware on keyboards and hard drives isn't loaded into them, it sits on
a ROM somewhere. The point is, keyboards are typically only connected to a
plug that allows the key input to be read by the system. With this setup,
maybe the keyboard is keylogging, but it can only send the data
