NBC used to bump Johnny Carson when baseball ran long-the Friday night White Sox-Yankees game 2 August 1985 where Carlton Fisk tagged out 2 runners at the plate on the same play was a good example- game went well past midnight becaus eof extra innings. On Friday, July 1, 2016 at 6:25:15 AM

Was noticing something about NBC: back when they had baseball and did one of those Friday Night games as specials-it seemed to me that Johnny Carson was bumped and they'd go straight to Friday Night Videos following the local news- White Sox-Yankees game 2 August 1985 where Carlton Fisk tagged

I remember that XFL game quite well. There was a major injury(broken leg?) at one point, and they actually showed the other game which was in Orlando at one point because of the truck losing power before the game started. On Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at 5:28:25 PM UTC-4, Brad Beam wrote: > >

maybe i'm wrong but maybe the race(i know it was the 1999 one in Charlotte) started at 10:00 after "Little House". i don't think they'd would start a race at 8:00 or 9:00(that's when "Little House" aired on TBS for years.) i remember the Indy 500 preempting the local news in 97(in fact it did

Might mention something about NASCAR: i've seen TBS preempt reruns of "Little House on the Prairie" to air a rained out race, and ESPN usually dumps "SportsCenter" to air any rescheduled races. FOX moves most rained out races to FS1: i've never seen ABC or NBC preempt their soaps for a rained

My understanding with CBS is that CBS and Fox picked their policies because of their big Sunday night shows. CBS wanted to always air 60 Minutes in its entirety, Fox wanted to be consistent about broadcasting the first-run episode of The Simpsons at 8:00. On Thu, Jul 7, 2016 at 8:10 PM, Jim

I heard that it has to do with the affiliate ownership. The Fox stations are independent so they want the local news at 10pm no matter what. Fox will always preempt shows, although having "The OT" as a buffer makes it less likely. More CBS affiliates are "owned and operated" so CBS can push back

Why is it though, when a game runs long sometimes they join a show in progress, but sometimes show the full show? NBC was inconsistent about that, but CBS has always shown 60 Minutes in full. On Friday, July 1, 2016 at 6:25:15 AM UTC-4, daniel anderson wrote: > > was thinking of last year when

Presumably the network with the Emmys would set up their NFL schedule so that they didn't have the doubleheader that weekend. So, worst case, only the markets of the two teams would be affected. If a West Coast game runs long, it wouldn't have made a difference since the Emmys are (or were until
