All,
I have client (NY Area) who is looking for a one day on-site
consult from someone who can finish up a bunch of little JSP/UniVerse
issues. The have a working system, which is largely doing what it's
supposed to, but there are spot changes: making the Cascading Style

Thanks Chuck for the response. However, Jerry found the solution - I
had to set REPSONSE = then the subroutines ran fine.
Thanks Again,

Don't have an answer for you, but UD doesn't have that like UniVerse
does. And no, you don't have to define all of the attributes to be able
to see all of the ones you define.
Are they all showing in the view in VSG?

I have a related question.
Is there any reason ODBC on UniData would only return a small set of
data to excel when joining two tables? The same SQL returns everything.

I thought @USER.TYPE would tell me - but both UniData telnet and RedBack

If you open a command window on Windows and type NETSTAT -a you'll
get a list of active ports. That'll tell you if 23 is really in use and
it *may* tell you by whom. If you are on XP, you can go to SETTINGS

I've only used RedBack with UniVerse, but..
Why not create a specific user e.g. 'redback' and use that when you start the
responders? Then you can check for that user name in your program.

We tried the NETSTAT that last time we tried to troubleshoot this
(before the hardware replacements), nothing showed up using port 23.
Didn't try the control panel stuff, will retry both tonight.
Thanks!

All,
Same price sensitive client as before. They've just given me
permission to bring in an on-site Delphi/UO person for up to two weeks.
The bad news is that the person in question will have to work closely
with me. This is in addition to the Java/JSP person.

A couple of things I'd look at:
1) Are you on a domain?
2) Do you have another instance of U2 or other MV dbms running?
3) Do you have an older version of UniAdmn installed?
4) Did you install UV with your anti-virus and/or anti-spyware software
disabled?
5) Are you using Zone Alarm?

Thanks for the hints! I can connect thru telnet localhost in DOS just

First, you should probably uninstall UniAdmin and any other older U2 client
software you have (unless you need it). Then reinstall the new version that
comes with UV 10.2 (Try just installing UniAdmin first). Make sure you turn
off your AV/Aspyware software first. I believe the most

David,
I don't know how reliable this is, just throwing it out there, but the
redback sessions also don't have an IP address, whereas the telnet
sessions from workstations do.
!listuser -i
We also start responders as user redback (unix), so that's what we use.

Best bet is to add an Environment variable to the rgwresp.ini file and
interrogate it from the UniData program. GETENV or similar by my vague
recollection (been a while).
