If you can, I'd get some sort of tcpip printing installed on WILLS (or put the printer
on a jetdirect box) and then print to this. The problem is that the user who is
getting the problem does not have access rights to the mac
up until yesterday i'd have agreed with you. However a client got infected with a
virus that symantec *claims* to have known about since December, but wasn't actually
detected until i sent them the sample and it appeared in last nights defs!
Virus spread via irc and *open admin$ shares* on the se
the AV got on their network because symantec corporate edition didn't detect it,
despite their docs saying they can detect this family of virus's since December 2003
(which is the third time in under a month i've had this happen on our network -
although mcaffee doesn't detect this virus either
Try a ^ in front of the &.
This works when doing redirects in a batch file, ie < and > become ^<
and ^>
The & fails as this is the seperator in dos for a new command, so echo 1
& echo 2 would do
Echo 1
Echo 2

we used to cpio the account up, ftp it across and then cpio it out
again. However we were finding that files were not being included in the
cpio output. We know from experience that tar doesn't work on the input
side of things.
be EXTREMELY careful if you upgrade to version 5.x of sbclient.
The software does work much better than 4.x but the upgrade routine has
one major hangup.
If you upgrade to version 5 and keep the same serial number, when you
launch one version5 client the licence details will ripple around the

Like another poster on the list, we are looking at controlling a serial
device (a carousel) from a pc. At the moment it runs on a unix box and
we send commands to a fixed tty for the aux port of the dumb terminal.
However the server is being replaced by a w2k server and the Dumb
Terminal by a pc.

different profile settings. Having said that if it normally works then
it should work every time. What is the error message that comes up? Whats
the command you are using to schedule it? I assume you are running the

Don't forget that setting the passwords to the same thing means that any
sb prompts to enter your password, such as editing group security,
screen saver lockouts etc means that it is likely impersonation can take
place. Also if they log out of SB, do the users then get the login
prompt again or do
