of the box. The motherboard is an ASUS P4C800-E Deluxe. The onboard
promise controller also does not appear to work.

I just tested it with the latest Edgy Eft iso (disk installation).
Both the cd and the disk install work with sound etc, not 1 crash and
its pretty fast too. Just some other glitches but I think these are

No this is wrong. keytouch-acpid will not run at the background when you
remove the . In your case keytouch-acpid will probably exit because
there is no acpi socket. But when keytouch-acpid does not exit then your

I gave up on keytouch for various reasons, the main 2 were the lack of
acknowledgment on the bug report and my inability to get my Logitech MX
3000 working with it or the editor.
I will reinstall it in the next week or so when I have some time to

Binary package hint: xserver-xgl
Almost all non-RGB xv surfaces show extreme corruption using the
xserver-xgl in edgy. This may be fixed in a later xgl, but I've not had
any success in getting one to build and run. Screenshot attached (this
is with 'nvidia' driver -

This should get higher priority -- it breaks the update for many users!
Workaround from 3ngineer on forum.ubuntu-nl.org:

Steps to reproduce:
1. apt-get install apt-proxy
2. /etc/init.d/apt-proxy restart
Expected result:
/var/log/apt-proxy.log would show a clean shutdown of the daemon
Actual result:
/var/log/apt-proxy.log shows a exception thrown on shutdown:
exceptions.AttributeError: 'str'

thanks for the quick response. Your line works very well. Btw the
original line is a bashism and it seems that edgy's Xsession uses sh
instead of bash now (thus the strange error).

No, never use totem plugin.
But, in fact, when I completely delete all the .gnome*, .nautilus, and the
.metacity folders from ~ it got way rarer (is 'rarer' a word?).
