Can repro. On my G4 iBook it looks like this:
In GDM (i.e. without GNOME running) the iBook goes into Standby when the cover
is closed. As soon as GNOME is running, closing the cover only locks the
screen. There is no Standby and no suspend2ram in this case. cat
/sys/power/state prints disk on
Of course I meant feisty, not edgy; I'm aware of the ubuntu release
cycles and policies...

I just installed edgy, along with knetworkmanager 0.1-0ubuntu1, and had
a similar problem: knetworkmanager did not show any wireless networks,
nor show the menu option of creating (adding) a new one. at the same
time, wireless assistant did show two detected networks.
I tried tinkering with all
1. I think so. I didn't have one, I probably had an old fdi file? My
device was also 512MB, the '128' is just from the USB ident string.
2. Mine is the same. I didn't see that option - if there is one, it
would be good to add it in.
(FWIW, mine won't actually work as an MP3 player any more -
I confirm: after reboot the problem gone away.

Making this ( or most for that matter) bug a wishist makes more sense
than requiring a full spec. Having it as a spec does not increase its

After muting headphone and line jack sense, I get sound from the speakers,
but not from the headset. Testing in sound Preferences gives the following

In 'sound Events' and 'Music and Movies' everythin works except Intel
82801DB-ICH4 where I get a test window but no sound; and ESD where
this was actually fixes for edgy but I forgot to update this. Having it
fixed in RC2 is not relevant here as that was released after edgy.

Compaq V4000 (laptop) - Centrino 1.73G. Max CPU Temp (100 C) (from Intel)
Using Ubuntu Dapper. Under high load would claim critical temp reached and
halt. dmesg shows CPU reached (102 C).

By a lucky coincidence I found out that uninstalling the hibernate
package seems to resolve the problem. Keywan can reproduce this effect,
too. Anybody else?

You are very close to the possible fix. At least you can fix your ACPI
bugs.
In Edgy (and AFAIK in Dapper) you must place DSDT.aml in:
/etc/initramfs-tools
Then you have to run:
update-initramfs -k $(uname -r)
Then, reboot the system and you'll get your ACPI fixed. It couldn't be

I have a Lenovo 3000 N100 usin kubuntu 6.10 edgy eft.
This this problem seemed to be intermitant. I discovered that if I am
running on AC I am able to do shutdown or reboot from the desktop most
of the time. One out of five or six hang. I do not get a splash screen.

Same problem as everybody else here: works fine during installer, stops working
a few seconds after gdm OR kdm. (Tested with Ubuntu AND Kubuntu).

once the merges for feisty start, glipper will get autosynced from
unstable, so no further interaction is necessary.
If you believe that it will be a major enhancement to edgy as well, you
should assign the bug to the ubuntu backports team, once it has landed
in feisty.

What I do not understand is that in some cases the boot procedure
terminates correctly to the logging window and sometimes avorts for

When printing using the dejavu font, some greek characters appear
smudged in the printout. This happens only to accented characters. I
don't think it has anything to do with printer drivers, as I have heard

I installed mplayer-plugin with firefox 2.0 and I am trying to stream
videos from, i.e., http://dw-world.de and http://www.tageschau.de/
Some sound and an image is observed at the beginning but then the
streaming is stopped. I am using kubuntu edgy. Other person in kubuntu
I have it working now. I removed openoffice completely and reinstalled.
This may just be a problem on fresh installs. Thanks for the help.

gdm seems to use some other font other that the default dejavu font. I
think it must be a bitsteam font. The menu that pops up when clicking
Options seems to use the correct font.
Without the dejavu fonts, Greek characters look horrible.
