This was a report, not a question.
The issue is that people who installed Skype under dapper using the
repository and have upgraded to edgy now have a broken skype
installation. There is no migration procedure. Perhaps this is an
upgrade issue, that if skype was installed from dapper-commercial

I just went by the aMule page, and apparently this bug is fixed in wxWidgets
2.8.0, which was released on December 12th. Of course, 2.8.0 didn't make the
edgy repos, but surely it will make feisty's. Once it does, this patch is
supposed to fix aMule to work with 2.8.0:
OK happy to help out, and no, the Edgy server install freezes after the
menu also when it gets to a dark greyish screen.
What can I help with in terms of diagnostics? I've flashed the BIOS with
the latest Tyan drivers - its a Tyan K8SD Pro, with dual Opteron. i386
is working fine for the time

The Bug has changed a bit. It just appears after 'Soft-Reboots' at the moment
(if you shut down and reboot the system from the gnome-menu).
If you just boot the system (computer is off before) everything is ok.

Yes bug still occurs with Ubuntu 6.10 livecd. It is also a bug
in Debian 3.1 installation disk.

intentional, as it's documented in the man page:

There is a definite difference in the device and monitor section. My
best guess is that this is a bug in gnome-power-manager. However, it

I have the same issue
I have been googling all around and found some hints about gtkrc being
the culprit and how to configure certain font settings in gtkrc.
Unfortunately none of those hints helped. I'd really appreciate if
someone would look into this because other well-used gtk1 apps like xmms
I already fixed this on feisty.
It is too little change to provide a SRU, especially when this doesn't
currentlycreate any issue, except an entry in the component bar.

I got the same problem today. when i logged in python crashed, and then
apport-gtk crashed.

Yes. The edgy source still have this bug. The upstream fix was:

The current cvs HEAD is way better than 2.14.3. I'll recommend an update
to ORBit2 cvs HEAD.

this bug report? Did this happen on dapper, edgy or feisty?

gnome-power-manager does not touch xorg.conf. It sounds like an issue
with the KDE X configuration tool, not gnome-power-manager - especially
since it's a Kubuntu install.

When I connect my Palm TX to my PC via USB, it is given varying device
names. Further, the devices are always owned by root, meaning that
regular users are unable to connect to them (at least, kpilot only works
