This is a continuation of
#197558 ssb module breaks BCM4328 with ndiswrapper (regression from 2.6.24-10)
which refers to a very specific issue, but became a dumping ground for a larger
issue. Specifically, it appears that ssb prevents ndiswrapper from getting
OK, in order to find the culprit I completely removed the file
/etc/X11/xorg.conf
Then logged out. I noticed that the options on the lower part of the screen
were now visible again.
Logged back in, and used this to get a basic xorg.conf: sudo dpkg-reconfigure
-phigh xserver-xorg

One further note: I tested this with a USB keyboard, a HP LaserJet 1300
printer, and a Logitech camera (I forget the model). The keyboard and
the printer behaved exactly the same. When the camera was plugged in it
actually failed to suspend. I haven't tested the camera in the laptop's
own ports
It is quite likely that this is some sort of artifact form running under
kvm, I do not have working sound there, it may caused by this.

Hmm, though http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=461956 says
that dead keys don't work when using Unicode on the console. I'm not
sure this is an intrinsic limitation - it might just be that ckbcomp
isn't yet smart enough to work out which compose definitions to use.

I don't think this is an issue with the version of Ubuntu I'm running.
It's only a problem with the game program design.
After playing the game some more, I'd modify my statement: Instead of
clearing the keyboard buffer when the block reaches the bottom, there
should be a brief interval
Actually, it is not as bad as I thought. You can in fact resume a
download after cancelling (it's called retry, but works the same as
resume). So I would not want to waste anyone's time with this bug.
Now I'm not sure what the difference between pause and cancel is. Maybe
canceled downloads get

I see pinkish shadows around windows and menus on a NV-8800GTS. There
are other issues which have been blamed on composite handling in the
current driver too, like a delay that is introduced in the handling of
several gtk-widgets on only some of the displays in a multi-head config.

With the latest updates Compiz is now working properly for me, I'm not
getting this missing window borders issue nor the 'desktop effects could
not be enabled' that I mentioned. I recommend closing this bug?

I'm EXTREMELY dissapointed in the fix. It's not a fix, it's a work
around that makes Flash not have sound or software mixing. This
dependency needs to come back, because we're just trading one problem
for another!!!
Using nspluginwrapper on all archs would be the easiest and best
