I hit this crash aswell trying to extract a shady zip file.
Using 7z e filename on the commandline worked to extract the file.
I believe the issue lies in special characters used in the filename.

Still got the bug in Intrepid , none of both the workarounds above work
and no need to be playing a song to reproduce the bug. It is enough to
have rhythmbox opened and focused. Any solution?

but in 8-10 nothing works.
hdspmixer outputs me only:
Card 0 : HDA ATI SB at 0xf9ff4000 irq 16
Card 1 : BEHRINGER BCR2000 at usb-:00:13.1-1.3, full speed
Card 2 : RME Hammerfall DSP at 0xe400, irq 20

Removed flashplugin-nonfree.
Downloaded Alpha refresh of Adobe's Flash player 10i.e.
libflashplayer-10.0.d21.1.linux-x86_64.so.tar.gz on desktop and after
extraction got libflashplayer.so as per instructions on Adobe website.
Copied libflashplayer.so to ~/.mozilla/plugins after creating
the bug should be sent to bugzilla.gnome.org
