Apparently I had dnsmasq running which prevented virbr0 setup. Probably
a leftover of some test... properly purging dnsmasq solved the issue.

I don't know what just happened but after installing pulseaudio (no
commands or reboot) my sound worked and all is fine. I've attached a
bunch of screenshots of my xfce4-mixer configuration and my tray. I
think after the whole time the volume was just at 0% even though in the
mixer I set it to

Looking at this on the 29th here, with the latest updates, the issue
does not appear to be happening anymore. I've tested leaving the buddy
list open and navigating between desktops; the taskbar button stays on
the desktop that it's open on.
