Have updated my 9.04 install to latest packages to test Youri's comment
above. Screen tearing seems 'better' - seem to be getting relatively
fewer screwed up screen paints, but I still get some, particularly with
Outlook via Citrix, but also sometimes with Firefox or Word / Excel via
Citrix.

The mythweb symlinks might be fixed, I'm not totally sure on that. I
thought I remember having to do that on 8.10, but again that was an install
long ago so I may be incorrect.
The default video_covers directory is fixed, I did that myself. Not at home
at the moment, but IIRC it is now /v
I no longer have this issue. I eventually re-installed Jaunty and after
the re-install all was working well.
The upgrade to 9.04 did not have this issue.

The reason the comma commands don't work is because the default local
leader in Debian/Ubuntu's VIM is "\", not ",,
XAA does seem to eliminate the freezes -- I've been running for several
days without a problem.
Unfortunately it also seems to eliminate opengl -- at least, google earth warns
at startup that it's running in opengl software emulation. And glxinfo now says
OpenGL vendor string: Mesa Project

It is reproducable. I am mounting with Archive Mounter. To recreate
mount an iso on archive mounter and try to copy all files and folders
from it to elsewhere.

I've discovered that it's a conflict with Firefox. If I close Firefox,
everything returns to normal. I do have the 64-bit alpha version of
Flash installed too.

In fact, it is because python-gnome2-extras was "suggested" but not mandatory…
I installed with : sudo apt-get install gajim --no-install-recommends
I think python-gnome2-extras must be installed even with --no-install-
recommends, no?

I also did a fresh install on a new computer. udevinfo is not found on
this new machine. It was the first thing I tested after install. No
packages were installed or deinstallled before this.
Ubuntu 9.04 was installed with the alternate cd. My ubuntu 8.10 computer
was also installed using the alte

so this may be a problem with the icq client. I can't find a duplicate
for this bug but located this page stating that others are having
