I can confirm that switching "Dynamic CPU Frequency Mode" from "Dynamic" to
"Always Low" in BIOS makes installation process much faster. Tested on TOSHIBA
NB200-N12 and Ubuntu 9.10 network installation from mini.iso image.

However Ubuntu 9.10 decided to switch to "ibus" which shows "No Input
method" no matter how it was set up. I

SSD. I thought it was ext4 so i reinstalled with ext3 and the message
still comes up. When you click on the message it takes you to the

Have you tested that the font can still be detected by the system when
compressed?
Does it work also with bzip2 or lzma compression?
How about the performance? I guess either rendering or startup should be
slower, because of the need to uncompress the font again.

OK..after applying the diff to the upstart source and rebuilding the
deb, I no longer get the kernel panic. But right at that point I now

Another observation: when this happens, if I run oowriter as root, it
runs immediately. I still have to run oowriter as my normal user twice
before it will run. So assuming it's not a permissions problem, it must
be configuration issue; however, deleting ~/.openoffice.org doesn't fix
the problem, s

Maybe you missed the part where I said I don't have anything pulseaudio
installed. Kubuntu does not ship with pulseaudio and I have not done
anything to change that. I have taking time to go through a list of my
installed packages to be extra sure that pulseaudio is not installed.

One last update. I tried booting into recovery mode, and again it only
worked with i915.modeset=0. This time though, keyboard was completely
function in the command prompt. When I tried starting the xserver by
typing 'X' it froze at a black screen and I again couldn't access the
TTYs or anything
Confirmed for Acer Aspire One 150-Ab, with Xubuntu 9.10 final.
Installation from USB stick, created with usb-creator, in Xubuntu 9.04.
