amd64 maverick host), with virtio disks.
The server installer complained about not seeing any disks.
Dropping to the shell, I confirmed that /dev/vda was not there, as I
expected that it should have been

Solved this one. In order to make my card work with a previous kernel I
needed the following modprobe options:
options iwlagn disable_hw_scan=1 swcrypto50=1 swcrypto=1
With the new kernel this messes it up. But removing the options,
everything works fine.

Solved this issue. For a previous kernel it was necessary to have the
following modprobe configuration:
options iwlagn disable_hw_scan=1 swcrypto50=1 swcrypto=1
This seems to break the driver in the new kernel. However, without the
options it works fine.

It's a bug in the code. The function force_widget_redraw in
src/animation.c is supposed to return a gboolean, but there is no return
statement in the body of the function.
It should probably be fixed in git soon, or you can try an earlier
revision.

Thanx for getting back to me!
Things good now. I think all the trouble has been caused by me,
following all the alpha, beta and rc to prod. version of 10.04. Probably
something that has been stuck from one update to another in the 10.04
developing fase.

I found what changed the behavior was running the 'report a problem'
from the help menu. The search results would start working after I ran
this report. The search results then stopped showing after Firefox sat
idle for some time.
