Until 10.04 plugging in headphones muted the laptop's speakers and
switched over sound to headphone out. Now the sound gets a little

For background, I have just analysed the history in the git.gnome.org repo I
mention. There hasn't been a change recently there, a.f.a.i.c.t. More
specifically, their BTRFS detection code has been in there since Feb 23, 2009

on Maverick, it should either remove the /etc/X11/xorg.conf file, or set
the driver to 'nouveau', the default video driver for Nvidia graphic
cards on Maverick.

sudo apt-get remove --purge nvidia-current dkms
then
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install dkms nvidia-current
--
package nvidia-173 173.14.22-0ubuntu11 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess
