Nothing seems to happen when pressing Escape, even when booting with the
quiet and splash flags removed from the kernel command-line.

$ sudo aptitude install flashplugin-installer
$ sudo apt-get install flashplugin-installer
In my case, the first command seemed to clean up some dependencies while
the next did the actual pulling of packages.

I did try installing Adobe's x64 beta, though (and failed). Could this
