This bug has been driving me insane lately - or if it is not the same
bug then the symptoms are identical.
What I have is a 14.04.2 LTS server that has had a Rails app running for
some time without this problem. Now, approx a month ago, I started
seeing this problem where on Firefox I
Turned on icons in menu and buttons in Ubuntu Unity 14.10. Not many apps
have icons in menu, but no problems either.

Looks like the boot command only solves part of the problem. Touchpad is
totally missing from Mouse Touchpad settings in Unity and also it
cannot be switched off with FN+F4. Seems also that it is not triggered
off when typing so it is super sensitive to accidental triggering and

I installed kate to try it. Then removed it.
Noticed later that apt-get doesn't suggest me to remove other kate
packages, for example kate-data (just noticed an update coming for kate-
data and was surprised to see it there). See below:

A little hint on this - if I turn off Menus have icons in Ubuntu Tweak
tool and restart the application (tested Geany and Shutter) - the

Confirming on 12.10. External keyboard is not detected at all on boot if
it is plugged in and switched on. Most of the times it is detected if it
is plugged in and switched on only when login prompt is visible.

While discussing bug #1128821 found out that my laptop test report
probably failed to show at Ubuntu Friendly site due to not being
accepted due to some failed test.
The UI does not notify about this so
1) the user should know if the report cannot be submitted and
2) shouldn't we allow reports
Error occurred after installing Steam deb file downloaded from Steam
site. The deb was installing, Steam info dialog asked to Start it after
which Steam started updating the client. Clicked close button on the

Ubuntu Kernel team PPA and still acpi shows discharging even though AC
is plugged in. State of AC adapter is and has always been shown

Also affected and using Kernel 3.5 from edgers. Can't purge since
otherwise I am left with poor hardware support for my laptop. Will
rather just live with no icons until a fix is released :)

Did:
rm -rf .gstreamer-0.10/
And now it works.

When initiating a file copy in Nautilus the file copy dialog appears
normally. However once it is lost by changing to other windows, it
cannot be found either via the launcher or with ALT-TAB. The launcher
clearly shows a file copy is going on (shows two windows

Doesn't freeze any more. Actually had already commented so 2011-03-10 and

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.
Was affected but the problem seems to have disappeared for myself,
tested with several very large documents with different types of
content. Maybe related to the recent update?

Also affected. Saving an empty or small .doc file is ok. The bug seems
to relate to the size of the document? I cannot send the document I am
having problems with due to it being a work document. It has 1084 words
and 9123 characters.
I managed to save the file after gradually decreasing the
