offering a wireless connection when there is a wired connection (both defined
as dhcp)
after requesting a WPA/WPA2 key, never connecting
ignoring DNS (in /etc/resolv.conf) but not allowing them in Network Manager
applet

Same problem with 4311 rev 01 card. Workarounds (such as
/usr/share/b43-fwcutter/install_bcm43xx_firmware.sh and modprobe bcm43xx
and ndiswrapper with bcmlw5 driver) don't work. Also, Edimax 7318USg
dongle cannot be made to work with rt73usb driver. Therefore, no usable
wireless - what a pain!

After a recent update from the repositories (under Hardy), a restart was
required and done. After that for one user (admin level) but not for
another user (desktop level), the top menus are no longer active (i.e.
mouse clicking has no effect), the launchers are inactive and
Hardy with the fglrx driver fixes the screen problems (except for seeing
the boot splash screen on the external monitor) without having to touch
xorg.conf. It's also fixed the keyboard problem. However, the usb mouse
(wired unwired) stops working after a few sessions, as reported
elsewhere.

v05 (not sure if rc1) Firefox install (by software updates) fixed the
crashes. To quote someone else: some muppet had the idea of including
Firefox beta version in Hardy final release. I don't like the 'abuse'
but I would like to know why this was done.

None of those files was present. I have never used Firefox as root. I
always use if from the Applications menu or equivalent icon I've copied
to the launch panel. I run it either as an Administrative user or as a
Desktop user. It doesn't make any difference to the crashes. I have
clean

I've now put in 'eth1'. If I have the ethernet cable disconnected, then I don't
get any wireless connection. If I have it connected, then I get wired
connection through eth0. But Network Manager doesn't show eth1, so i can't
connect wirelessly. When I do sudo /etc/init/d/networking
I put 'iface eth1 inet dhcp' in /etc/network/interfaces. Didn't help
even when I did 'ifup eth1'. I want to be able to use wired (i.e. eth0)
when at home and wireless (i.e. eth1) when away from home (on my
laptop): surely his must be possible with Hardy.

This issue applies to laptops using usb wired wireless mice/external
keyboards on both Hardy Gutsy (on Gutsy it started over a month ago).
I am attaching the tems requested in the wiki DebuggingMouse Detection
webpage.

Same problem with a laptop using usb Logitech EX110 wireless mouse
keyboard under upgraded Hardy using kernel 2.6.2.24-16. Also, same
problem with wired usb mouse. I reported this as bug 163481 on Gutsy
using kernel 2.6.22. There it started over a month ago. I've tried sudo
dpkg-reconfigure
I have same problem using evince (on pdf file) using Brother HL-5250DN
as Sancho on revious post. However, Adobe 8 prints OK (download acroread
package in Synaptic to get it on Office sub-menu)

Same for me using up to date Gutsy with usb Logitech wireless keyboard
mouse.
dmesg on plug in:

Similar issue with Brother HL-5250DN network printer. I've allocated a static
ip address to this printer. I've tried to add it as an ipp printer and it's not
found. I then tried adding it as a lpr/lpd printer. I then select the Make
model (to identify the ppd file in Gutsy's database). This

attached.Applies to all users. I'm not able to recreate the problem with
Hardy as I have no computer with Hardy installed. Nor do I have access
to a copy of Hardy.

i swtich to a different user. then switch again to my previous account, the
screen is just blank.
Same issue on Dell Inspiron 1501 using ati driver fglrx under gutsy. Ati
driver installed using Envy. xorg.conf attached.
Occurs intermittently. Not able to identify conditions yet.

In both Feisty Gutsy, I have set the default Font Size in Evolution to
be 12. In neither release, is the font size displayed correctly: it
looks like 10. Similarly, when printing it prints smaller. When I set
Preferences to be HTML mail, it did not improve.

I also have this problem with Gutsy, kernel 2.6.22-14-generic. My latest
xorg.conf is attached. Enabling the wireless devices (in ServerLayout)
doesn't solve the problem. Besides which I don't like to use Dev Phys
as the details can change depending on which USB socket is used. dmesg
