This problem seems to persist on Ubuntu 20.10. The workaround is using an
"external" app.

Probably this a nvidia related issue. Opening the Nvidia configuration
app resets to max brightness.

I just noticed that this problem only occurs on my laptop screen

Changing the file "/etc/init/lightdm.conf" solved the issue to me:

The installation did not copied the gru-efi to /target. I was in the
UEFI mode enabled. An during the installation the message about not be
able to boot EFI systems was showed. I decided to force the installation
but for a second try the system after it does not boot.

How to reproduce the bug:
1. Open Nautilus: Everything normal, hidden files are hidden.
2. In Nautilus press CTRL + H: Hidden files are shown.
3. Close Nautilus and open again: hidden files are back hidden.
4. Open Gedit;
5. In gedit try to open file. In the file chooser dialog, press ctrl + h.
1) Clean Xenial install;
2) Bug happened yesterday with gnome-terminal;
3) Enabled Marcos's ppa; Installed packages and updated (bamf, menu
indicator,...);
4) Multiple reboots: everything ok! Seems fixed.
Maybe time to an official fix ?

running a brand new installation of Ubuntu Studio 16.04 32bit ins a Dell
Inspiron 1525. It did not recognize my Broadcom Wireless card, so i ran
"sudo apt-get install b43-fwcutter firmware-b43-installer" in a
1) Error happened yesterday with gnome-terminal.
2) Installed ppa from Marco;
3) Upgraded the ppa today;
4) Everything working so far.

Yesterday, in the samba irc channel, a samba dev told me this version
(4.0.0alpha18) is outdated. Most of the parameters code weren't merged
in this version, even the simple ones, like 'logon script' or 'cups
options'.

This is the first time I'll report a bug. Right now I'm in the
classroom, and not to lose the possible error, I'll post here.
The error occurs when I create a file with the owner called 'teste' and
dumb (as root) the owner to 'root' with the chown and chmod 744, like
this:
Quantal uses libx264-123. Medibuntu needs libx264-120 but does not
provide it... But does it really need =120 or should it be =120 ?
Medibuntu's mencoder has the same version numbers from Quantal one.

Ok guys, i don't even know how to use this, but i'm here to try some

I got problems like this, my pen could hover and move the cursor, but when i
touch the table, the cursor stuck. This happend when i installed an update to
ubuntu Kernel.

Workaround: just reset your screen by pressing ctrlaltf8 and then
ctrlaltf7

I have the same problem here, Ubuntu 12.04 i386 + openjdk-7-* and fixed by
replacing the line in the script /usr/bin/javaws
from:
JAVA=/usr/lib/jvm/java-6-openjdk-i386/jre/bin/java
to:
JAVA=java

I've just installed 295.49 from precise-proposed and everything seems fine now.
At least Unity 3D works and it's running as fast as with 295.33.
