I think I have the same issue. I have two random key encrypted drives,
/tmp and swap, but the problem (so far) only seems to happen with /tmp.
The problem seems to be intermittent, but still happens on maybe 50% or
more of boots. I can't get a boot log because upstart doesn't appear to
use them.
OK, turns out the additions I made to the GDM init script still don't
fix the gconf-sanity-check-2 error. It still happens, but it appears to
be random. In fact, everything about these problems appears to be
random. The synchronous nature of Upstart seems to make the boot process
unpredictable,
This bug is still in version 1.3.3.12 in Jaunty. I seriously doubt
they're still working on it upstream, since the last post made to that
bug report was back in 2006. In three years they still haven't bothered
to use a standard clipboard like most of the rest of the Linux world.
Disappointing.
--
Nevermind, seems to be fixed(so far!) in 1.3.5. Get the repos from the
Scribus website and install scribus-ng.

I can confirm this bug still exists in Jaunty. Using a wireless laptop,
coming out of suspend gnubiff errors out of my inboxes and never tries
again unless I restart it or check the settings. This also happens if
there's any break in the connection to the email server, either by

I'd also like to see firefox-3.5 satisfy the dependencies for sun-

simply to keep this plugin installed.
If only dependencies could be overridden by the user.

This seems to affect me as well, running an strace seems to suggest VYM
is trying to find a network printer that normally exists on my network
and is installed in CUPS but is currently unavailable. The program takes
ages to start, and freezes for a period of time when going to the print
dialog.
As the original reporter of this problem, I'd like to say that after a
fresh install of Jaunty this card seems to work 100% out of the box, at
least on my system. Thank you everyone for your reports, and thanks to
the guys at Canonical who packaged the drivers for Ubuntu :). Hopefully
for everyone
Same problem still exists for me in Jaunty. Adding the Mitac option into
alsa-base doesn't fix it, and alsamixer still displays the same error:

I'm getting the same problem (I think), so far it only seems to be CD-RW

Managed to work out how to repatch ALSA when needed (eg. when the kernel
is updated).
Instructions for doing so are as follows:
* download alsa-driver-1.0.16 source and extract
* download this patch and extract to alsa-driver-1.0.16/alsa-kernel/pci/hda/
* configure by running sudo ./configure
A patched module has been made thanks to RenZO. Details on the patch, a
link to the file to download, and how to install it, are outlined at

Now the changes just have to be added to ALSA proper and it'll be set.
