I have upgraded from Precise to Quantal yesterday and ufw doesn't work.
I have compiled my own kernel without IPv6 and the IPv6 netfilter
modules, my kernel is running with ipv6.disable=1, ufw config has
IPV6=no and so on (i don't need and want IPv6 now). ufw complained with:

Tried Ctrl+Alt+F1 or F8 or Backspace. No effect.
Tried to use tty1 via Ctrl+Alt+F1, user, pass, eject: tray did not eject,

consuming 5-15MB memory each.
One of the processes was using 90%+ of the CPUs. A little googling
suggesting that this can be resolved by logging into UbuntuOne. Once I
logged in there, the CPU utilisation dropped to normal

I independently discovered that myself.
This bug occurs when removing a shortcut from the launcher which had
been previously marked with the keep in launcher flag.

Tried to run a dvd (commercial movie) using Movie Player. Running 10.04
on a Gateway desktop. System froze repeatedly, requiring hard reboot.
Not a particularly experienced user - will provide information
requested, but I don't know what to include. Should I run the same

Also, gphoto2 requires 2.6.28.2 to work, 2.6.28 and 2.6.28.1 are known
to be broken in regards to libusb usage.
At the time it was the ubuntu -4-generic kernel, though usb seems to
be iffy with -6 also. Sudden disconnects and
worked wonderfully, thank you very much :D.

I've been seeing this in Ubuntu, but not Debian (I triple-boot between
Debian and Ubuntu almost evenly, and the unnamed obsolete OS rarely). In
Debian, they mount instantly with the same exact mount options in fstab,
whereas in Jaunty they don't, and I see the same errors as the original

Managed to find a work-around, by setting the two drives to Master and
Slave. If they are set to Cable Select it still happens.
Happy with the workaround.

Attempting to boot from a downloaded 8.04 Install CD gives hdc: drive
not ready for command, and the DVD drive has no power. Whereas, booting
from a 7.10 install CD works fine.
Whatever the issue is, it's something in 8.04, and it doesn't help
matters :o)

Additional Hardware Information:
The system with this issue has an Asrock 939A8X-M motherboard, based on
an ALi M1689 chipset and AMI BIOS (at latest level for this
motherboard).
This system also had a VMWare virtual machine that successfully upgraded
with no issues.

Have just upgraded a system to Hardy Release Candidate. This is the 4th
update I've done (all the others have been fine!).
Upgrade was via Package Manager, following the same process as the other
upgrades.
This particular system is an AMD 3500+ with 1Gb RAM. There are 2 x

Upgrading a test system (as close as possible in build/config to my

I use 2 Java based applications - Freemind (a mind mapping tool) and
jEdit (programmers editor).
Running either of these under 8.04 gives the following error:

I encountered that bug one time, when I was experimenting with Ubuntu.
Almost immediately after that I installed PCLINUXOS which I prefer. I
have installed/reinstalled Ubuntu and PCLINUXOS a few times since then,
for experimental reasons, but never encountered that bug again. I
prefer PCLINUXOS
