During 12.10 I noticed that xfdesktop sometimes caused high cpu usage
and started eating memory. The one likely cause was after an update with
aptitude and wine starting a new prefix. If I'm not wrong, both actions
modify the icon cache and menu entries.

I get this on every single boot, and have done since upgrading from
Precise. The message starts off white and then turns blue, before
eventually continuing to boot. /tmp is not mounted.

It appears that the openswan version in ubuntu 12.04 does not honor the
'left=' parameter when used on a host with multiple external IP
addresses on one 'public' interface. For example: I have a host with 2
IP's bound to eth0
Removing the 'reset_devices' and 'irq_poll' in /etc/init.d/kdump did the
trick, both machines now generate a nice vmcore file when they crash.

The problem is not making the kernel crash, that's easy :) The issue is
that no crash dump is ever generated. The whole kexec dump stuff just
doesn't seem to work. I already went through all the troubleshooting
tips and tricks, but it the kernel just crashed and hangs forever and
only a reset work
I've been trying to get the crashdump stuff to work, but it just won't
generate a dump, or do anything at all when the kernel crashes... Is
there another way to get the info you want? Would a console screenshot
with a high res console work?

I just retested with the multipath-tools version
'0.4.9-3ubuntu5+lp1032250dbg1', on 2 systems simulatiously. The test
consisted of repeatedly shutting down the fibre port in the switch for
one of the paths. One system survived (see syslog.test2.survived.gz),
one system did not (syslog.test2.broken.

it successfully onto a CD, and tried booting it. It booted and came to
the screen where it asks if you want to install or just "try" (run from
CD/memory). I selected try.

Since upgrade to it my system did not boot normally anymore, and only
with low resolutions.
I tried quite a lot, like switching between the nvidia, nouveau and vesa
driver but only the vesa driver worke

I can add some weirdness to this.
I am seeing this on an amd64 system running 12.04 (upgraded continually
since Alpha 1). No amount of tinkering with apt sources either in the
GUI or in /etc/apt/sources.list[.d/*] has any effect -- I'm unable to
see any software for purchase in the software cente

In Ubuntu Oneiric I was able to run ruby scripts using wxruby perfectly.
But after the upgrade to precise it stopped working.

works perfectly):

I'm experiencing the same problems. For me it happens more frequently (after 15
minutes max.) and not only in the text balloons.
Also the desktop background and applications get garbeled.
Could be a bug in the intel X driver, I also have an integrated Intel Graphics
driver.

To clarify: I used the Xubuntu installer, after the prompted upgrade
crashed half way through, and that's when I encountered this problem.
