Novice user adding input here. If this cannot be fixed so that I can
have similar battery life as when running Windows I will have to stop

Well. I sincerely apologise.
I *was* on nouveau and I saw this behaviour.
I used gstreamer-properties under nvidia and thought I saw an ok test
screen, but I must have screwed up somehow? 'cause now I'm back to
blackness in nvidia as well.
The only thing I can think of is it is related to
Ok. Problem persisted after reboot. So apparently it is independent of
video driver.
BTW, external VGA monitor *did* fail until I used nvidia driver, but I
didn't file that since nvidia fixed.

There is also discussion of indicator-multiload as the source of the
memory leak in #720446. Look in particular at comments #42 and #44
there. These say that: 1) the leak does not occur when using indicator-
multiload in Classic, only in Unity; and 2) indicator-multi-load is,
every second, loading
@Robotex: Yes, that's true, but it misses the point I was trying to
make. There is the system indicator applet (which lives in the gnome
panel) that *looks* just like indicator-multiload (which lives in the
indicator area), and I agree that these are different programs with
different codebases.
With Michael's patch I've had Unity running with indicator-multiload for
almost 20 minutes now with no noticeable memory leak. Looks like you got

Just acquired an ASUS EEE 1015PEM-MU17 last week and ran into the suspend
problem as you have.
After following several different solutions, it seems a dash / underscore typo
is the culprit behind the suspension freeze.

particular annoyance so far is unreliable wifi connectivity, still not

minute and then blind-type my password in. Under 2.6.38-8 I see a brief

I also found that if I right-click on the panel, choose properties,
check the box show hide buttons and then uncheck show hide buttons
again, that I can rearrange my panel. It's annoying to have to do this
after every reboot, but it's better than deleting/re-adding it.

The gist is that it seems like the edge-flip-pointer behavior described
there and the edge-flip-on-mouse-button stuff we're talking about here
So, I'd warned my mother not to update to 11.04, since personally I'd
found it to be one of the buggier releases since I made Ubuntu my main
linux distro many years ago.
The big update now screen convinced her to do it anyway (keep in mind
she is far away so support is not a casual thing).

Well, it does save screen real-estate for small screened devices when
working on a few full-screen applications.
Unity might make sense for screen heights of 768 or lower.
On my laptop, where I'm currently alternating between Unity (trying hard to

Default decorator was straining my intel card and had those hideous
heavy shadows - replacing w/ gtk decorator in gconf for unity (and gnome
classic) fixed, but I should not have had to go to gconf - appears
changing decorator in ccsm no longer works.
I haven't seen it anymore.

The problem is with Linux bridging. When adding or removing a MAC
address (like for KVM, VirtualBox, or even LXC) then if the bridge
changes its MAC, this symptom happens.
I have the same 4-second bridge freeze when using LXC containers and
lxc-start or lxc-stop. (I am using a custom script to create my LXC
containers.) I saw the reference to this above:

Same issue here. Dell Latitude D620, 11.04 beta 1. Switching drivers
also works for me. Is possible to switch back to the previous working
version of the STA driver?

With Firefox 4 (natty), Firefox now handles much better the deletion of
all its files out from under it, so this is much less of an issue. This
can probably be closed now.

lags in programs and in 3D games especially. I would like my games from
other laptops with Ubuntu 10.10/11.04 to work the same on this laptop...
with out the lag. games like
