Thanks for the update, Bryce. I can also confirm a segmentation fault running aticonfig --initial on my Radeon 9700 pro after a manual installation on Intrepid. Jockey is still not displaying anything for restricted drivers. Is this still intentional because of this issue? -- r3xx Hardware

Hello, I switched to the open source radeon driver and I noticed one slight difference in the random freezes (which still occur as I suspected). Now with the open source driver, I have the ability to move the mouse upon lock up, but that is it. No ctrl+alt+backspace, nothing. Previously, the

After further testing, I am still experiencing the same issues with Compiz disabled running the fglrx driver. No mouse, no keyboard. However, when I disable Compiz, the freezes happen much less often (but still do occur from time to time). -- X freezes when compiz is enabled on ATI cards

I should also note that the freezes are not a separate issue relating specifically to XMMS. I have seen the freeze playing video as well. In XMMS, when the freeze occurs, the current song in the playlist will finish playing, but the next song in the playlist will not start once the freeze has

I can confirm this issue to be present on my Gateway NX560x with the Intel 945 graphics chipset. Others have also seen this problem as per a href=http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=580535;this thread/a. My display works at certain percentage ranges as noted in the first post. Any insight
