btw, instructions from

followed and libdvdread4 is installed properly.
just installed VLC and i do not know why, but VLC plays the DVD
correctly.

Workarounds from comments #0 together with #5 worked for me.
Caveats: if you create a new bookmark at Thunar, you'll need to redo the
symlink in order to changes propagate to

Live session
Mouse over the wired network applet on Lubuntu 13.10 and there`s no info about
the network.
Do the same on Lubuntu 12.04 and you`ll see some info about the wired
network, such as its name.
Screen shots

network, plus status active.

from Lubuntu 13.10 live session, the wired network is the only one that
shows nothing.
volume applet says volume level.
battery says battery state.
clock shows week day and date.
power button says shutdown.
So the wired network is the only one not consistent with the other
stock applets.
Is
lubuntu 12.04 wired connection applet: rigth click and see the menu with
options

Right click at the wired network applet. It`s not possible to see:
1) connection info
2) edit connections
3) enable or disable wired/wireless connection.
If you do the same right click on the wired network
lubuntu 1310 wired network applet: right click and see a different menu.
Not possible to easily check/change connection settings.

this bug is alive on Lubuntu 12.10 and 13.04, 32 bits, both fresh
install.
workaround from comment #6 works, but it may look strange for new
users/new comers see that some applications do not work out of the box
as expected.
i believe it takes a while for new users to find on release notes the
this bug is alive on Lubuntu 13.04 32 bits too.
if you change widget as a workaround from another issue from bug
#1029212, this bug #1056547 will be more visible.
i don't know if it's a related issue, but i installed supertux kart from
ubuntu repo and it looks very strange compared to the
bug affects me too.
