Ohhh, crap! My joy was spread a little bit too early. It seens that the slider for dimming the brightness on my Sony Vaio VGN-FS195VP only worked just after the update. After rebooting my machine I was - once again - not able to dim the brightness within gnome-power-manager 2.20.0. Very strange!
