Hi, I tried the live cd of Ubuntu 9.10, live dvd Ubuntu
9.10 and Kubuntu 9.10 but the card does not work. But with Ubuntu 9.04
it works perfectly. What can I do?

Make sure you don't have the kill switch on the side of your
machine cut on. That could be your issue..if the rfkill switch is on then
wireless isn't going to work.
I wish I could tell you something. But as mentioned
before I have the exact same 5350 card

You probably want to check your install. I have the exact same card (id
all in my Thinkpad x301) . So what happens when you load up iwlagn ? Run
sudo modprobe iwlagn. Also can you try an 9.10 live CD and see if you see the
same behavior, something may have gotten messed up in

Thanks. I tried the 2.6.32 kernel but the card does not work. From what
I understand the kernel loads the drivers for the card but does not see
it as a wireless card but cable (as in picture)

You are not using a Intel 5350 as from the pic the WiMAX is a 2400 ..
and should say WiMax Link 5350. Ensure that the wireless card you have you
can see with lspci -vvnn. Also ensure iwlagn driver is loaded, this is what
the wifi card uses. You can see this by checking

Looks as though the card is working. There is actually disscussion
around the WiMAX part of the card on the Intel WiMax mailing list. Intel is
looking to try and resolve these issues. You can view the archives and
subscribe here:
Ive tried a fresh install etc and doesnt work. I dont get it, everything
works fine in suse, fedora and ubuntu 9.04. Just going to keep using the
old os, dont think the wifi problems will be resolved as not many other
people seem to be suffering from them

Can you post the output of dmesg ? If the driver is loading
then this really is looking to be a hardware issue. Kernel message will
probably reveal this.

iwlagn is showing up as loaded, but when I previous carried out testing
I found that its fully installed and has problems fully executing.
iwconfig doesnt show wlan0

Looking in the driver. Your card has all the proper support. It's
Product ID PCI ID coorilate to the proper support in the driver.
1) Please use a fresh 9.10 Live CD to test.
2) Check lsmod|grep iwlagn
* ensure the driver is loading
3)Check command iwconfig
* ensure

So I see your product number is 423a .. while mine is 423b. This
could be a real issue. Will need to look into it further. The driver just may
not have the correct in it for your product ID. Will look into the issue.

I will run the test as soon as I can. Please note that this bug was
opened with 8.10 by someone else and I have just reopened it as I am
having the same problem in 9.10. I shouldn't be a hardware fault because
the wireless card works perfectly under 9.04. Btw, I ran some more tests
under
lspci -vvnn for ethernet and wireless card:

I'm using a 5350 in my Thinkpad X301 right now with 9.10. Please try a
9.10 live cd and see if you are still having the issue. Wifi works fine. WiMax
is not yet fully supported though.

Just checked 9.10 live, wifi not showing up in the connections list on
the status panel. Tried manually adding my network but not connecting.
Previous tests showed that the wireless card detected but remained
unclaimed even after driver installation compelted successfully (note:

I am also using a 5350 in 9.10, and have no issues with wifi. jaymit,
since others cannot replicate this, I would suggest that your issue is
either a different bug or some sort of hardware issue.

Can you run lspci -vvnn and attach the output to the bug. For my 5350
here is the output. The 5350 is supported fine in 9.04 also.

I also just realized you have 8.10 in your first post. I would suggest
you move to 9.10. This bug is invalid. As the 5350 is not supported under 8.10.

This is now resolved in Ubuntu 9.04 (Jaunty) as of Feb 21. Working great
with Wifi . Intel is to begin adding WiMax capabilities in 2.6.29.
