I'm seeing udevd constantly discovering the CD-ROM drive on my PowerMac
G4 Cube running 11.10:
[09:59][jnh@cube]~$ sudo udevadm monitor --property
monitor will print the received events for:
UDEV - the event which udev sends out after rule processing
KERNEL - the kernel uevent
@James,
This bug is closed and the issue you're reporting has nothing to do with
LVM.
I suspect your cd-rom is generating change events every time the block
device is opened (or closed). In any event, it doesn't belong here, file
a new bug against oneiric.

Ah, sorry, i did not notice .1 in the release...
Our release was 0.4.8-14ubuntu10
It works fine with multipath-tools 0.4.8-14ubuntu10.1, no need for an
udev rules.
Thanks

Hi,
we are encountering the same problem with serveral servers:
OS : ubuntu 11.04
kernel : 2.6.38-10 / 2.6.38-11
multipath-tools : 0.4.8-14
iScsi + multipath (4 paths via 2 qlogic cards) + lvm2
Same problem described as above.
The workaround in /etc/udev/rules.d/95-multipath.rules seems to
@Stephane
That doesn't add up, the spurious change events were addressed in
multipath-tools
as of 0.4.8-14ubuntu10.1, the version you're quoted doesn't include the ubuntu
revision so I don't know what version you're actually running. That work
around is no
longer necessary. It sounds you

@Michael
Could you please try the updated multipath-tools found here
https://launchpad.net/~peter-petrakis/+archive/storage
The problem you're seeing with udev might very well be
due the bug we just solved in the priority checker code.
Thanks.

I have run a server with 8.04LTS on it for the last 3 years and it has
been great with multipathd and my SAN. Upgrading to 10.04LTS fresh,
installing multipathd and having the SAN connected (both with disks
mounted or not) the load on the server load jumps to massive levels.
This server is not

I see this issue consistently with both Jaunty and Karmic installs when
running iscsi + multipathd + lvm2
From other searches and mailing lists, the fix that seems to fix the
issue the most is by adjusting one of either
/lib/udev/rules.d/85-lvm2.rules
or
/lib/udev/rules.d/95-multipath.rules
Same on my machine (Dual P4) without lvm.
The udev processes are eating up the memory (1MB and filling the swap 500MB).
The swap-process then uses ~90% CPU.

Today i tried out something, because I didn't understand why stop/start udev
helped.
I singled out that this behaviour only occurs when i add one certain partition
to fstab and it is mounted automatically on boot.
This partition is an NTFS partition.
When I mount the partition over the UI (in my
