uninstalling it solved the problem.

I've downloaded and installed the Vista audio drivers
(http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-67218)
rebooted Vista and the sound worked again.
I then shutdown the PC and booted Ubuntu Feisty and e presto the sound
in Ubuntu worked from the start.

After looking at the last attached nm.log, I would ask if:
Could it be, that in IFRFlyer case, nm-applet and not NM is irritated? As far
the log says, the first DHCP request after resuming fails, then a 2nd is
attempted and successful!
I would say there should be network connectivity and only
affects ubuntu/alsa-driver

this bug re-appeared in version 0.99.2-1ubuntu3.1 on my dapper amd64
system when going through the automatic upgrade. I was able temporarily
fix it on my system by editing /var/lib/dpkg/info/quagga.prerm and
changing the exit 1 to exit 0 on line 16 as described in the
original bug submission
