I have updated to gutsy today. I have launched restricted drivers
manager to enable accelerated non-free driver for my ati card.
After I enabled the driver, the Installing and removing software
window pops up to install xorg-driver-fglrx, which is fine.

The cannot resolve hostname bug seems to be fixed in the latest Gutsy

I'm experiencing the same sort of behavior... crashes on glxinfo, and I
had trouble getting the newest Gutsy driver to work. Attached is my
Xorg.0.log.old, and I will also attach an xorg.conf.

I realize now that it may have been slightly unclear... my behavior is
under VESA driver because the 'ati' driver won't even start up on my
system, I only get a black screen. I believe it is still related, at
least insomuch as glxinfo causing X to crash.
