The problem with open office is not the same driver problem reported here.
OOO2.4 and OOO3.0 call a specific font which is sometimes missing in the
system. I fixed the problem in Ubuntu by going to the

Hi,
I know a wordprocessor does not open PDF.
The thing was that I had to extract images and text from a PDF in order to
generate a new word.
Evince did not work fine at this point, so I installed KPDF which works better

I have placed a patch on the alsa-devel mailing list which works for me
(which links across the latest version) and put a howto in the ubuntu

I find this problem all the time as well.
The problem seems to be with the 'Hotmail' plugin. Each time the plugin
is updated (or maybe each time Thunderbird is updated) the plugin
'forgets' which mail it has previously downloaded, so gets them all.
As a workaround, I have found that disabling

Alexander, can you recommend what files need to be checked / examined to
try and debug this problem specifically. Currently I have managed to get
the icon showing permanently, even though it tells me I'm disconnected
;-) I'm obviously not, as I'm typing this post on that box.

NetworkManager 0.7 final will go to the network-manager team PPA quite
soon [1].
There is also the modemmanager effort [1] which tries to get
modemmanager ready for the archive. Thats even a bit more experimental,
and not all bits are there, but in the end this will be the default
