Hi,
I came up with basically the same solution as Jerry a while ago and have been
anxiously waiting for a new xorg-server release from Ubuntu. What has to be
done to get this pushed ? Maybe its not considered serious, but many scientific

In the end I wiped everything, reformatted, repartitioned and started
from scratch leaving only Windows on a 1T HDD (120GB). I reinstalled

I don't know how the OOo GUI works and how much it can be tweaked to
look similar to a native GTK+ one (no one proposed a GTK+ interface
conversion project?), but with Ambiance OOo look quite ugly, just a bit
better with Radiance, and little more with Clearlooks. OOo is a great

I'm having a similar issue with 9.10 (i386), and Firefox 3.5.9, over the
last few days.
Entering a google search generates a suitable-looking URL, but google
doesn't send back any data to render.
Interestingly, I have the user agent switcher installed, and if I switch

Hi Jeremy,
Just one question re testing the upstream kernel. The daily build has
not got a kernel image image, only kernel headers and kernel source - I
thought I should be testing the kernel image. Can you please tell me
what I have to test as the two options available under daily/current

The installer should suggest to install grub only in those places:
- the current root partition
- the MBR, but if and ONLY if during the latest configure grub was
installed to it
I can't find why grub should suggest to be installed to other partitions
too.

I have a program that uses the libpoppler-qt4-dev package. In Ubuntu
9.10 the poppler version for that package is 0.12.0 and my program runs
very fast. But now that I've upgraded to Ubuntu 10.04 the poppler
version for the package is 0.12.4 and my program's speed has
*dramatically declined*. I
I find OOo to be one of the apps that I use on a regular basis that
looks least like native GTK ... it does fare better with some themes
than others, though. I agree with ubuntolo that a project to convert OOo
to a GTK interface would be wonderful; I don't think it's very likely to
happen, though.
Many are focusing on the three warning messages in the top. For everyone the
issue seems to be slightly different. For me gwibber was failing in the line
284 of /usr/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/gwibber/gwui.py
