I just installed mythbuntu 11.10 from CD made all Updates. Installed ATI driver

With vlc I could stream a Video from VHS.
Than I installed the build_media. git. After dvb was there easycap no more

Easycap stopped working after running this commend:
git clone git://linuxtv.org/media_build.git

Is that the only changes you made to the system? That command basically
pulls down source code, so I don't imaging it could have caused the
issue.

[Bug 904168] Re: Crash when implement do_startup method in GApplication subclass

2012-03-15 Thread Martin Pitt
In current precise, with both python 2 and 3 I now get

$ python3 /tmp/do_startup.py

GLib-GIO-CRITICAL **: GApplication subclass '__main__+Application'
failed to chain up on ::startup (from start of override function)

and a clean exit code 0. do_startup() actually does get called. I think
this is because the functions are just empty stubs.

Can you confirm that this works properly now with pygobject 3.1.1?

[Bug 955272] Re: resize2fs fail with very large disks from small source image

2012-03-15 Thread Neil Wilson
The workaround is to create a 128M journal via

mkfs.ext4 -J size=128

which is the size of journal generally created on a 20G disk anyway.

This costs 24k blocks (96M) on a 1G partition - which is about 10% of
the free blocks available.

When you do this Oneiric's resize2fs now appears to complete correctly
(with a 1310720M partition).

ubuntu@srv-xqubo:~$ resize2fs xxl
resize2fs 1.41.14 (22-Dec-2010)
Resizing the filesystem on xxl to 335544320 (4k) blocks.
The filesystem on xxl is now 335544320 blocks long.

But if you run e2fsck across that filesystem it is heavily corrupted.

2012-03-15 Thread Apport retracing service
Thank you for your report!

However, processing it in order to get sufficient information for the
developers failed (it does not generate a useful symbolic stack trace). This
might be caused by some outdated packages which were installed on your system
at the time of the report:

outdated debug symbol package for libcolord1: package version 0.1.16-2
dbgsym version 0.1.12-1ubuntu2.1

Please upgrade your system to the latest package versions. If you still
encounter the crash, please file a new report.

Thank you for your understanding, and sorry for the inconvenience!

[Bug 870404] Re: When navigating Dash by keyboard, sometimes titles with no function are incorrectly focused

2012-03-15 Thread Petko Ditchev
Discussions and ideas have been in the mailing list and nothing has
happened . The fact is there is no centric development forum where good
ideas will stick until someone implements them or disproves them good .
At least in this or similar cases I think it's good to have the design
ideas here , so they are closely related to the bug itself , and it's
easier to make the connection . More so this is a usability bug , so
discussions on usability , IMO , are appropriate .

[Bug 955892] [NEW] Failed name lookup - disconnected path error for long path names

2012-03-15 Thread Felix Geyer
Public bug reported:

AppArmor denies access to files with a path length 255 characters with
the error message Failed name lookup - disconnected path.

Example log entry:
Mar 15 11:43:45 felix-desktop kernel: [ 6051.608954] type=1400
audit(1331808225.843:4896): apparmor=DENIED operation=mknod info=Failed

It certainly seems to be some sort of buffering issue on the GPU.

If I've been on my 11.04 install and then reboot to my 12.04 install I
see remnants of the 11.04 when logging in on 12.04.

[Bug 955896] [NEW] [multi-monitor] On NVidia, launcher best placed on left-most monitor (not primary)

2012-03-15 Thread Gerry Boland
Public bug reported:

On a Multi-monitor setup, using NVidia graphics closed-driver.

It is possible to have no primary monitor set

One can set up two screens as follows:
- on the right, a laptop screen (most likely seen as first by the driver)
- on the left, an external monitor
Currently Unity2D will place launcher on left of the 'first' monitor.

In this case, it makes best sense to have launcher placed on the left-
most screen. (Unity does this)

If you set the primary monitor in nvidia-settings, then all works ok.

[Bug 955390] Re: menu bug

2012-03-15 Thread sean.h.m...@gmail.com
this was down to POSIX not being enabled and my graphics card drivers:

I added the line:

tmpfs /dev/shm tmpfs defaults 0 0

to /etc/fstab as it was missing

and then mounted the shared memory:

sudo mount /dev/shm

Reference: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1393513

i have purged my AMD driver and downloaded the latest driver from the
ati website:

sudo apt-get --purge remove fglrx*
sudo apt-get install dh-make execstack dh-modaliases dkms lib32gcc1 libc6-i386
sudo chmod +x amd-driver-installer-12-2-x86.x86_64.run
sudo sh amd-driver-installer-12-2-x86.x86_64.run --buildpkg Ubuntu/precise

Reference: http://debianhelp.wordpress.com/2012/03/09/to-do-list-after-
installing-ubuntu-12-04-lts-aka-precise-pangolin/

now I have 3d graphics and no menu drop issues

[Bug 953089] Re: Unity 5.6: key bindings (such as Super) don't work on empty workspace

2012-03-15 Thread Alan Griffiths
Narrowed the problem down to TapTimeUnderLimit() returning false, ...
on slow/busy machines

...
bool Controller::Impl::TapTimeUnderLimit()
{
  int time_difference = TimeSinceLauncherKeyPress();
  return time_difference  local::super_tap_duration;
}
...

I don't have a fix, but it isn't surprising that on a slow machine
things* take longer.

* whatever is measured by time_difference is greater than
super_tap_duration. Apparently there's more to it than the physical
keypress.

[Bug 953089] Re: Unity 5.6: key bindings (such as Super) don't work on empty workspace

2012-03-15 Thread Robert Carr
I am currently experiencing this bug on my quite fast desktop so my
intuition is that it is just not just slow/busy machines.

Also if I am on the empty workspace, first super will not work at all.
However, I can race opening the dash with super, with closing say an
indicator menu...which seems to indicate it's something more?

[Bug 833296] Re: abc numbering not automatic in libreoffice writer

2012-03-15 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Satchit Bhogle, this is:
- a clearcut upstream issue.
- won't be fixed in LibreOffice Packaging
Resolving as Won't Fix in LibreOffice Packaging. This does not mean the issue
will not be cared about, but if it is cared about (even by Ubuntu/Canonical
contributors), it is done upstream at LibreOffice.

[Bug 955919] [NEW] ssh-askpass blocks gnome-screensaver

2012-03-15 Thread Jeff Abrahamson
Public bug reported:

If ssh-askpass activates and is waiting for user input, gnome-
screensaver doesn't blank and lock the screen.

Assuming a period of idleness that would cause gnome-screensaver to
blank and lock, then after the user interacts with ssh-askpass, gnome-
screensaver does blank and lock the display.

[Bug 955915] [NEW] screensaver shows old screen content on return from sleep

2012-03-15 Thread Jeff Abrahamson
Public bug reported:

when gnome-screensaver activates after an idle period, and so then the
screen blanks, then pushing the shift key to wake the monitors and to
request that gnome-screensaver display an authentication box sometimes
causes the old screen (pre-lock) to display briefly before the screen
redraws blank with an authentication box. One can't interact with the
old display, and it's brief, no more than a second before repaint, but
from a privacy standpoint it's disturbing that the content is briefly
visible.

I have gnome-screensaver configured to blank the screen on idle rather
than to display pictures or animations.
