The reason is that when resuming from swap file, initramfs script can't

I've since discovered my main issue was lack of support for NVIDIA
GeForce GTX 960M Graphics during the install process. Googling the issue
I found adding nomodeset in grub after quiet splash allowed the install
to proceed and not hang at the start or the end. The issue was probably

everyone into how good ubuntu is, 5 years support and all. Then
installed openlp to project church lyrics and the bar was there and
there was nothing i could do about it. Luckily i had another usb with

using the correct lock file (/var/lock/ntpdate vs /run/lock/ntpdate, as

Synaptic to avoid updating other packages from the repository. I just checked
"gnome-software" to be updated. Synaptic also checked "gnome-software-common"

Confirmation that people experiencing this issue is unable to reproduce
in the same environment when running Debian instead of Ubuntu:

I'm noticing some random screen flickering since 16.10 upgrade.
Something like every 10 minutes, mainly on the secondary monitor (hdmi
connected), but sometimes on the laptop display too.

I have a UX305FA. I do not use any kernel parameters and the graphical controls
work when doing:
sudo apt-get install xbacklight
Then under open Settings>keyboard>shortcuts
Add custom shortcut keys with:
xbacklight -dec 10
xbacklight -inc 10
I used ALT+F5 and F6.

I sometimes have some notification about available update for my system.
But icon for update manager never automatically shows in launcher - as it
used to in previous ubuntu version. (a green background icon with an A on)
