[Bug 1755096] [NEW] s/send/sent for delsig in manpage

2018-03-12 Thread Lyn Perrine
Public bug reported:

To reproduce run man gpg. This manpage is quite long but to press / to
search the manpage for delsig read the line

delsig Delete a signature. Note that it is not possible to retract
a signature, once it has been send to the public (i.e. to a keyserver).
In that case you better use revsig.

gpg:
  Installed: 2.2.4-1ubuntu1
  Candidate: 2.2.4-1ubuntu1
  Version table:
 *** 2.2.4-1ubuntu1 500
500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu bionic/main amd64 Packages
Description:Ubuntu Bionic Beaver (development branch)
Release:18.04

I expected to read delsig Delete a signature. Note that it is not possible
to retract a signature, once it has been sent to the public (i.e. to a
keyserver). In that case you better use revsig.

Instead I read delsig Delete a signature. Note that it is not
possible to retract a signature, once it has been send to public (i.e.
to a keyserver). In that case you better use revsig.

[Bug 1744970] Re: Lowering some windows causes other, unrelated windows to also be lowered.

2018-03-12 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Looks like upstream just noticed. This fix went in AFTER 3.27.92 ...

commit 00b8ca7aebbd7c2288716dff2d04d0e75be523ac
Author: Georges Basile Stavracas Neto
Date: Thu Dec 14 11:38:54 2017 -0200

Revert "window: Raise and lower tile match in tandem"

Raising and lowering windows in tandem without a proper grouping
mechanism ended up being more annoying than functional.

This reverts commit e76a0f564c1e07e32fe857d0f8e5b723c3bbe57d.

[Bug 1747492] Re: [GeForce GTX 1080] 17.10.1 DisplayPort 15m cable monitor flickering

2018-03-12 Thread naisanza
I just tried it with the latest download from the main page. And it
seems to have issues displaying 3440 x 1440 @ 59Hz/60Hz. It can only
display it at 49Hz.

However, at the login screen, it will display, by default, at 3440 x
1440 @ 60Hz, so there is no display shown.

On Windows 10, there is no display issues at 3440 x 1440 @ 60Hz

[Bug 1754773] Re: network-manager-openvpn-gnome - VPN definition is damaged when saved

2018-03-12 Thread Milan Petruzelka
I've updated the packages:

dpkg -l|grep r-op
ii network-manager-openvpn1.8.0-3
 amd64
ii network-manager-openvpn-gnome 1.8.0-3
 amd64

Problem is SOLVED. Fields 'User certificate' and 'User private key' are
not damaged upon saving anymore.

Thanks a lot for such a quick reaction.

[Bug 1752838] Re: [SRU] neutron-ovs-cleanup runs earlier than ovsdb-server when there are many port

2018-03-12 Thread Seyeong Kim
** Description changed:

  [Impact]

In code, Basically all ubuntu version could be affected.
I'm trying to do test them

  Xenial - Tested, Affected
  Artful -
  Bionic -

- UCA-Mitaka -
+ UCA-Mitaka -
  UCA-Newton -
  UCA-Ocata -
  UCA-Pike -
  UCA-Queens -
  ..?

neutron-ovs-cleanup service runs earlier than ovsdb-server sometimes.

then, neutron-ovs-cleanup service's status remains failed
  with below error msg

"ProcessExecutionError: Exit code: 1; Stdin: ; Stdout: ; Stderr: ovs-
vsctl: unix:/var/run/openvswitch/db.sock: database connection failed (No
  such file or directory)"

  that is fine for booting.

  but.

If someday upgrade pkgs related to neutron, it runs neutron-ovs-cleanup
again because it is not in active status.

eventually, neutron-ovs-cleanup deletes all ports on running compute
  nodes.

  related logs here https://paste.ubuntu.com/p/QkkwP2vPDv/

  [Test Case]

  1. deploy openstack env
  2. run below scripts to add many ports
  #!/bin/bash

  for i in {0..1000}
  do
juju ssh nova-compute/0 "sudo ip link add dummy$i type dummy;sudo ip link
set name t-test$i dev dummy$i;sudo ovs-vsctl add-port br-int t-test$i";
  done

  3. systemctl list-units --failed
  - check if there is failed neutron-ovs-cleanup service

  [Regression]
  Changes dependency on
debian/neutron-openvswitch-agent.neutron-ovs-cleanup.service.in
need to reboot if this patch is affected. If this symptom is not affected
your env. no need to reboot.

[Bug 1755106] [NEW] /org/gnome/settings-daemon/plugins/media-keys/custom-keybindings/ fails to load

2018-03-12 Thread Péter Prőhle
Public bug reported:

$ dconf dump /org/gnome/settings-daemon/plugins/media-keys/custom-keybindings/
[custom1]
binding='BackSpace'
command='gnome-session-quit --power-off'
name='gnome-session-quit --power-off'

[custom0]
binding='g'
command='gnome-terminal --geometry=80x99-0+0'
name='gnome-terminal --geometry=80x99-0+0'
$

In spite of the above, time to time, not always, but since 18.04 much
much more frequently this settings fails to become active just after
booting, ... my account is logged in automatically just after boot.

If I log out and log in again, then these key bindings work.

If I go to the system settings, and define again, then these work again.

Earlier, before 18.04 this phenomenon was rare, namely once a week at
most.

But since 18.04 it is almost guaranteed, not deterministic, but highly
probable, that after an initial boot or a warm reboot these key bindings
will not work.

[Bug 1755094] Re: Hard blocked Wifi - Lenovo Miix 720

2018-03-12 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a
specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu
in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source
packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs
about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your
bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage.
You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1755094/+editstatus and add the
package name in the text box next to the word Package.

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]

[Bug 1754578] Re: New meson version including features uploaded without ffe

2018-03-12 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thanks Jeremy but that doesn't address the concerns raised there. It's good
that you try to assess that 0.45 has no obvious issues in rebuilding GNOME but
it doesn't wave the need for a ffe or the fact that we talked to upstream and
didn't follow their recommendation.
Could you talk to Jussi sees what he recommends and then file a ffe for 0.45 if
he suggests we stick to that version? Without a ffe we are going to have to
revert to 0.44...

[Bug 1752838] Re: [SRU] neutron-ovs-cleanup runs earlier than ovsdb-server when there are many port

2018-03-12 Thread Seyeong Kim
** Description changed:

  [Impact]

In code, Basically all ubuntu version could be affected.
I'm trying to do test them

neutron-ovs-cleanup service runs earlier than ovsdb-server sometimes.

then, neutron-ovs-cleanup service's status remains failed
  with below error msg

"ProcessExecutionError: Exit code: 1; Stdin: ; Stdout: ; Stderr: ovs-
vsctl: unix:/var/run/openvswitch/db.sock: database connection failed (No
  such file or directory)"

  that is fine for booting.

  but.

If someday upgrade pkgs related to neutron, it runs neutron-ovs-cleanup
again because it is not in active status.

eventually, neutron-ovs-cleanup deletes all ports on running compute
  nodes.

  related logs here https://paste.ubuntu.com/p/QkkwP2vPDv/

  [Test Case]

  1. deploy openstack env
  2. run below scripts to add many ports
  #!/bin/bash

  juju ssh nova-compute/0 '
  sudo modprobe dummy
- for i in {1..2000}
+ for i in {1..1000}
  do
- echo $i
- sudo ip link add dummy$i type dummy;sudo ip link set name t-test$i dev
dummy$i;sudo ovs-vsctl add-port br-int t-test$i
+   echo $i
+   sudo ip link add dummy$i type dummy;sudo ip link set name t-test$i dev
dummy$i;sudo ovs-vsctl add-port br-int t-test$i
  done
  '
  3. systemctl list-units --failed
  - check if there is failed neutron-ovs-cleanup service

  [Regression]
  Changes dependency on
debian/neutron-openvswitch-agent.neutron-ovs-cleanup.service.in
need to reboot if this patch is affected. If this symptom is not affected
your env. no need to reboot.

[Bug 1755119] [NEW] [snap] GTK dialogs have black corners

2018-03-12 Thread Olivier Tilloy
Public bug reported:

(initially reported on the forum: https://forum.snapcraft.io/t/call-for-
testing-chromium-65-0-3325-146/4390/10)

Observed on version 65.0.3325.146 from the candidate channel.

This appears to be specific to the chromium snap, other snaps like
libreoffice or gedit don't exhibit this.

The corners of GTK dialogs (such as the one to save a page to HTML) are
black instead of being transparent, and dialogs don't have shadows. See
attached screenshot.

[Bug 1754052] Re: Dell Latitude 7480 press shift keys triggers random mouseclick when `Tap to click` enabled on touchpad.

2018-03-12 Thread Peter Karlsson
I have tested upstream kernel v4.16-rc4 and can confirm the problem
persists. However I managed to borrow another Latitude E7440 and for the
time I had access to that laptop I could not reproduce the problem.
Therefore I have to conclude that it is a hardware problem, not a
software one.

Does it look good? Am I expected to validate on that kernel version?

[Bug 1746316] Re: [SRU] VirtualBox needs Security Patches

2018-03-12 Thread LocutusOfBorg via ubuntu-bugs
Hello, the MRE has been discussed many times, e.g. I did the same work a
lot of times, including describing the MRE exception paperwork.

e.g. LP: #1594493
LP: #1629870 (here you can see why the upstream testsuite is better than
autopkgtests)
LP: #1674819
LP: #1683965
LP: #1729568

If we compare the debdiff I got uploaded for trusty, the debdiff is even
worse

diff from 4.3.10-dfsg-1 (in Debian) to
4.3.34-dfsg-1+deb8u1ubuntu1.14.04.1 (13.0 MiB)

Also xenial has been bumped from 5.0.18 to 5.0.40, just in 4 minor
updates, but the debdiff between what is in release, and what is in
updates is scary too.

Just to be clear on all the above scary debdiffs, the TOTAL number of bugs
opened because of them is...

ONE :)
(I named the virtualbox and virtualbox-hwe file init files with the same alias,
so installing them without purging the other one resulted in a init system
warning).
I fixed that one in a minor update, as soon as I found out the root cause for
it.

If we consider the upstream debdiff, ZERO new bugs found.

That said, I understand the rationale for having a reproducing testcase,
while security fixes don't need it usually, I can say that the case for
testing is:

- install a xenial/artful guest machine.
  - check if 3d works, both enabled and disabled.
  - check if other guest machines still work, e.g. Windows/Other linuxes
  - check if 3d with HWE stack still work, reboot and see if everything works
as expected.
  - run xenial with old and new hwe kernels, it should boot in both cases

^^ do the same with virtualbox-guest-additions-iso package, after
removing the guest* apt stuff

This way you can test the guest stuff

- install virtualbox inside that xenial/artful guest machine, and install
another linux inside that VM.
  - everything should run as expected, except for being slow (a VM inside a VM
needs a lot of powerful hardware)

This is the testsuite I usually run, before asking for an SRU/MRE
accept.

I also ask a lot of colleagues to test my ppa, and their machines, so I
can say I'm happy with the upload, even before filing the paperwork.

That said, upstream has a really serious (not public) testsuite, they
run it with the packages their provide, and this is the best reason for
sticking with upstream new releases, instead of just cherry-picking new
patches, because I don't want to diverge from their code, this makes
regressions easier to track/reproduce, and fixes to be applied.

I never got a regression, even if in all the cases I was scared about
the debdiffs, and I really think even with this upload we will be safe
to go.

I case the package goes in proposed, I'll test artful in my laptop (I still run
artful here :p )
and xenial with the VM I usually use.

I'll report back all the new testing done, if you care, but honestly the tests
we will need, will come as new bug reports in a matter of *minutes* after the
upload goes in proposed
(virtualbox is a really strange package, each time I mess up with something, it
really takes minutes to get the first bug report in Debian or Ubuntu).
I can't test different hardware/CPU vendors (specially because of such CVEs),
but I think monitoring new bug reports is the best way we can test it.

(sorry for the verbosity, it was intended as a bullet list, but even if
it seems "zero" work, there is a lot of stuff going behind the scenes
there)

[Bug 1581088] Re: Middle mouse (wheel-click) button stopped working after upgrade to 16.04

2018-03-12 Thread Steven Karas
Using a Logitech M310 from a KM520 bundle kit.

When it stops working, I've been able to get it to work again by running
xev and holding the mousewheel down and cycling through several events.
Once it starts showing, it will fire many button presses. Once it starts
to appear, there will be a noticeable delay from button press to event.
This delay decreases, and eventually disappears. This sorts it out for a
day or so.

I was convinced it was hardware failure (possibly bad soldering points
on the middle mouse click), since it seems to respond to more pressure
on the wheel, but the regularity of failure and the fact it works after
following this protocol makes me doubt it.

them is painfull and netplan is very poorly documented.
Do you have good links to help me ?

[Bug 1754015] Re: nova-compute-kvm does not pull ipxe-qemu on non-amd64 archs

2018-03-12 Thread ChristianEhrhardt
Hi,
first I agree to Coreys first checks.

In terms of packages, arm (as well as ppc) clearly are recommend dependencies.
They have several use cases that work without ipxe-qemu - just not the one that
nova-compute-kvm is driving.

If we would follow the depend/recommend definition hard also x86 would become a
recommend.
But for historical compatibility x86 stays a depend.
OTOH on arm/ppc there are more (likely) cases were one doesn't need ipxe-qemu.

That said making it a depends from ther qemu- packages is wrong.
The solution is:
1. install with recommends or fix up what you lack (general recommends case)
OR
2. nova-compute-kvm might depend on it since the use case "from
nova-compute-kvm" seems to need it always
OR
3. pull it in from the charm or whatever is driving your install.

[Bug 1755109] Re: kernel: [drm:intel_pipe_update_end [i915]] *ERROR* Atomic update failure on pipe A

2018-03-12 Thread dino99
Also seen on Archlinux:
https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=233230

Per their comment, my output:

oem@ubuntu:~$ cat /sys/module/i915/parameters/enable_psr
cat: /sys/module/i915/parameters/enable_psr: Permission denied
oem@ubuntu:~$ sudo cat /sys/module/i915/parameters/enable_psr
[sudo] password for oem:
0

So returns '0' , but 'cat' usually does not needs 'sudo' . Looks
abnormal.

[Bug 1746316] Re: [SRU] VirtualBox needs Security Patches

2018-03-12 Thread LocutusOfBorg via ubuntu-bugs
BTW, bugs like LP: #1754991 can be probably also considered duplicated
of this one, so confirming their fix will be sufficient to confirm also
this one (the Spectre/Meltdown kernel fixes needs to be followed by
virtualbox changes too)

[Bug 1565940] Re: bluetoothctl systematically hangs when there is no bluetooth hardware

2018-03-12 Thread Daniel van Vugt
OK, I can finally reproduce the problem, but I had to manually kill my
bluetoothd before I could make it fail. I guess a Kubuntu session is
similar to that environment. Confirmed, but low priority.

For a better idea that avoids bluetoothctl see comment #12.

Finally, please log the bug with the upstream BlueZ developers:
https://bugzilla.kernel.org/enter_bug.cgi?product=Drivers&component=Bluetooth

and then let us know the ID of the newly-created bug.
