about failing to parse /proc/self/mountinfo.
I've forked this from bug# 1760841, which looks to be a similar but
distinct problem.

But it hasn't occurred to anyone that this could be some kind of phishing

It is only a recommends in Debian intentionally, and a recommends is the
correct dependency.
It can work without it, and adding it enhances the functionality [1].
