[Bug 55810] Re: Default mixer settings correspond to erroneous sampling rate

2006-08-15 Thread Étienne Bersac
Hello,

That's very strange. Only the first played song is accelerated. e.g. if
i miss my password, the login sound is replay, but in the correct rate.

I subtle a bug in snd-aoa, but nothing funded.

Étienne.

[Bug 54445] Re: [edgy] Gaim crashes when I click on save icon

2006-08-15 Thread Mark Doliner
From the discussion on the Red Hat bug we decided that this bug should
probably be fixed in either dbus (preferably) or gnome-vfs. But until
that happens, it's pretty easy to patch Gaim to avoid the crash. We've
posted a patch for v2_0_0beta3 as well as a patch against the v2_0_0
branch of SVN to the Red Hat bug.

Gaim 1.5.0 didn't use dbus, so I believe the problem does not exist
there.

[Bug 55828] Re: 1.2.0-0ubuntu5 to 1.2.2-0ubuntu0.6.06 breaks Brother HL-1440

2006-08-15 Thread Jan Ekholm
So the raw queue should be on the server?

I don't get it, the Debian Sarge server (in our case) has been
configured for the particular printer we use along with PPD files and
whatnot. The server works fine.It definitely wasn't trivial to get it
all going as CUPS is quite hard to set up and I'm not going to break the
server's fragile configuration just because some Kubuntu CUPS package is
broken.

Currently we can print to the perfectly working server from our Mac, I
will not break that last way of printing (on Linux we print to a file,
switch to the Mac and then print the file...)

I'm sorry if this sounds negative, but we initially spent literally days
trying to work around the badly configured CUPS packages in order to get
stuff to work, I'm not going to break that configuration.

[Bug 44814] Re: No sound with Intel HDA/Realtek ALC861

2006-08-15 Thread Dave Brady
I am having a similar problem, that I would like to see taken care of.
I have the same chipset, but I am able to play audio just fine in ALSA.
The real issue for me is that OSS does not work.

cat /dev/urandom /dev/dsp

Does exactly nothing. It acts like it's working, but no audio plays.
Any app that uses OSS, be it an SDL application, or XMMS, is completely
silent. Furthermore, I have no volume slider for the master control in
ALSA. It's a switch... not a slider. I have attached my sound
information... please let me know what I can do to help get this
resolved.

[Bug 56421] ipw3945 doesn't reassociate after suspend

2006-08-15 Thread Ross Burton
Public bug reported:

On my old laptop (ThinkPad T40p, ipw2100) if I had the following in
/etc/network/interfaces then after a suspend/resume cycle the network
card had re-associated with the AP and network was usable again:

auto eth0
iface eth0 inet dhcp
name home
wireless-essid Burton
wireless-key [snip]

However my new laptop (ThinkPad X60, ipw3945) with an identical
configuration doesn't do this. After resume it's unassociated:

$ iwconfig eth0
eth0 unassociated ESSID:off/any
  Mode:Managed Frequency=nan kHz Access Point: Not-Associated
  Bit Rate:0 kb/s Tx-Power:16 dBm
  Retry limit:15 RTS thr:off Fragment thr:off
  Power Management:off
  Link Quality:0 Signal level:0 Noise level:0
Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0
  Tx excessive retries:0 Invalid misc:0 Missed beacon:0

sudo ifdown eth0 sudo ifup eth0 brings the network back, but I'd
prefer not to have to do this every time I resume.

Note: the original reporter indicated the bug was in package 'linux-
image-2.6.15-26-686'; however, that package was not published in Baltix.

[Bug 56118] Re: Crashes on startup

2006-08-15 Thread Sebastien Bacher
fixed with this upload:

 firefox (1.99+2.0b1+dfsg-1ubuntu2) edgy; urgency=low
 .
   * Put libfreebl3 in /usr/lib, not /usr/lib/firefox;
it's part of libnss3. This fixes Malone #56202.
   * Disable main menu File / Import again; it seems that the Organise
Bookmarks import is going to be fixed and not the main menu one.
 (See Mozilla Bugzilla #347956, #117844; Debian #350599.)
   * Remove default theme setting; this can now be done by the
theme package creating another *.js file in /etc/firefox/pref.
This means we don't need to depend on firefox-themes-ubuntu.
(We Break older versions of firefox-themes-ubuntu.)
   * Relax version dependency from firefox to libnss and libnspr,
since these remain largely binary compatible.

[Bug 56424] software properties... add button is weird, you can't select source, overwrites sources.list without asking

2006-08-15 Thread Costin Chirvasuta
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: synaptic

I remove some of the entries in software properties (repositories
selection) and I can't add them back... at least not all.

First of all: you can't add a new source repository. You can't select
source anywhere when you add an Ubuntu repository. I used to have
binary and source for each entry. Now i have only binary (which i want)
but i can't add source again.

Second of all: the add button on an Ubuntu repository does the same thing as
the edit button. VERY ANNOYING. Before I removed some entries I had everything
separated and it was clean. For example I want separate entries for main and
for universe/multiverse and when I try to add them it stacks them into one
entry (really nice... extra code for less functionality).
If you remove everything you'll then only be able to have 4 Ubuntu entries:
one binary, one update binary, one security binary and one backports binary
(you can only add those). By default it came with about 8 entries i remember.

Third of all: I tried writing /etc/apt/sources.list by hand and when I
launched software properties not only did it not recognize the changes I
made but it also overwrote it with what was before without even asking.

[Bug 56425] Dapper issues with sound

2006-08-15 Thread Sean Miller
Public bug reported:

Since last week sometime I have been unable to get any sound out of
Dapper - I assume it must be the result of one of the auto updates, but
cannot be sure.

Trying to bring up the Gnome Volume Applet I get No volume control

It seems to have lost contact with the soundcard. I have tried re-
installing various bits and pieces (Gstreamer, Gnome Media etc.) but
this hasn't made any difference.

Any ideas?

[Bug 7560] Re: Wastebasket fails with read only directories

2006-08-15 Thread Sivan Greenberg
This is actually the same as bug #39482 and they need to be merged. The
root of the two observed behaviors is the same. I have sent a patch
upstream but it was argued that it might incur too much overhead and was
thus rejected. This thread shows what type of a patch Alex (nautilus
upstream) would be willing to accept - http://www.mail-archive.com
/nautilus-list@gnome.org/msg02853.html (for the interested make sure you
follow the complete thread). I had intentions to work on this, but
currently lacking some time and need to attend to other stuff. Upstream
would welcome something along the lines he's described.

[Bug 56426] Re: /etc/init.d/avahi-daemon is useless

2006-08-15 Thread Gustaf
Thanks!
But I must say the init.d scripts should always work. The gnome/kde settings
could instead of changing /etc/defaults/avahi-daemon, add or remove a symlink
from init.d to rcX.d...
It would mean support for one less file, and people wouldn't have to know about
all these /defaults/ directories, it just adds a layer of knowledge one has to
have to debug things.
Keep it simple. Thanks for the solution anyway.

[Bug 40956]

2006-08-15 Thread Paul Sladen
Confirmed, this is:

  https://launchpad.net/bugs/40956

and going to occur whenever the package is built on a buildd that is
primarily controlled by a serial console (eg. most of them! :-).

My proposal is to build with '--with-serial' with as standard to solve the
problem. This bug *severely* screws up people's machines, as keystrokes
get lost or corrupted and disappear from /dev/tty0.

John Lines: are you happy if I NMU up a patch via DELAYED? This bug has
been open for 9 months so far.

[Bug 43052] Re: OpenGL viewport cut-off with 915gm graphics

2006-08-15 Thread cossidhon
I can confirm that the repo's at http://xgl.compiz.info fixes this
problem. I noticed an update i810 driver for X.org. I remeber reading
somewhere that it was a driver issue. If this is the case, I suggest
updating the dapper repo's with the version on compiz.net.

[Bug 56433] Right-click-menu connected to wrong application

2006-08-15 Thread Oscar
Public bug reported:

If I open a konqueror window in any directory and right-click, I get the
option to create documents (write/spreadsheet/others). Most of these
seem to be connected to koffice, something that isn't installed on my
machine, and something that isn't installed by default IIRC.

I think that these shortcuts should be connected to openoffice.org
instead as that makes much more sense.

The problem might be related to my upgrade of KDE to KDE3.5.4 but that
shouldn't change the shortcuts to a non existing application.
