The version I had installed was libgnomeui_common_2.20.0_0ubuntu1. For
some reason, the removal script was trying to do a gconf-schema

The problem seems to arise actually from the interaction between
KNetworkManager (front end) and the NetworkManager

Confirmed. Happens to me on two different machines (one i386 with ATI

I spoke to soon. The icon only sometimes shows. I noticed that when I
set Visual Effects to "none", the icon is displayed in all white instead
of the normal colors, and it isn't in the system tray, but right below
the Ubuntu menu symbol on the top left. The discolored Amule symbol

UPDATE: I can run gparted from the terminal for all combinations of
gksudo gparted /dev/a* or ending in b* or c* and so on, except if I use
f*. Using f* causes gparted to scan forever, so the problem has to be
with some conflict with some device starting with f - that's just a

Removed 2 unused cards in question. No change. I started a stopwatch
the exact same time that I hit enter after typing my root password

An update. This only happens if I haven't viewed the folder in Thunar.
Once Thunar has generated the thumbnails then the "Desktop Background
Selector" will as well. So, I'm guessing it isn't trying to create it's
own thumbnails and just looking for a cache of the image?

Same problem. AMD64, running 7.10 with an Nvidia card. When I select
"NONE" visual effect, title bars come back. If I go back to Normal or
Extra, they disappear again.

Yes that is correct. It was suggested I remove two pieces of hardware
that I don't use (a PCI netgear wifi card and a tv tuner that is of very
poor quality). This hardware was present in Feisty, and this problem

1) It seems that whenever trackerd is started by gnome-session, the infinite

issue was that the UUID in /etc/fstab didn't match the vol_id on the
swap partition.
How that happened I don't have any idea, but setting /etc/fstab to match

I'm experiencing this problem as well on a Compaq Presario C571NR.
However, I didn't experience the problem until I manually restarted the
dbus service. It ran fine before I did this. Restarting the hal
service fixes the problem, so that's an annoying work around for the
time being.

I am in the same boat—i386 build failed both on PPA and my own server
