I cant seem to find a workaround for this issue. I'm on Karmic w/

Affected by this bug too, but I worked around it by avoiding the Enter
key. I was able to login by clicking the Login button with the mouse.
Currently doing an upgrade, but the GUI disappeared for me when I tried
to wake from the screensaver.

I think I might have the same issue on an Nvidia 8xxx based laptop;
unfortunately I can't see anything past boot and am not sure if
netconsole is built in to the kernel (which is how I debug things on
kernels I compile for other distros).
